I would give this movie at least 4 stars...of course, I am the demographic at which it is aimed. (John would be pleased with my proper grammar). We thoroughly enjoyed it...my husband did not falleep (which earns at at least one of those four starts) and I shed a tear or two. It deals so graciously with the very present issue of aging longer, grown-up responsibility and the fear of growing old helpless and alone. Love those two stars together. Plus, we include RV travel in our current vacations and have that road trip to Key West on our bucket list. Hell, give it five stars!

Watching the trailer makes me so sad, yet I want to see this film. My husband is showing signs of memory loss and my mother died from the side effects of severe dementia. It is heartbreaking to watch someone you know change, and lose their mental abilities. I read the book when it came out, and I still have it, though it saddened me greatly.

A simple movie about people on life's journey. Increasingly my favorite kind of movie. It seems many only view this as a sad movie from the perspective of an aging couple, one suffering from increasing memory loss. That's OK. To me it's about both the sad and happy moments, with emphasis on the happy. I'm not that much into metaphors but I also see the Winnebago Indian as part of the story, something nostalgic, cute, sweet, something which has seen better days and is smoking through one more road trip before hanging up it's spurs.

Just finished the book. Fantastic. The Trailer is nothing, absolutely nothing, like the book. I can't decide if I want to see the movie now, or not. Wow, they certainly twisted a great book.

Only watched the trailer of the movie, but I read the book.  The couple is from Michigan.  The wheel cover has MA, not MI.  They try to travel on 66.  She chases him in a pickup truck when he leaves her, not a motorcycle.  Too many differences just in the trailer from the book.  They use a lot of profanities and criticize Christianity.

Donald Sutherland is a great actor But Virzì is a mediocre filmaker.
