Can I feed my horse oats?

Oats have been the favored grain for horses since it´s domestication. As a whole grain cereol it retains all it´s nutrients, even vitimins as long as the grain remains whole. The saying "feeling his oats" comes from the fact that suger is stored in the body cells for use when needed, oats contain vitimin E which helps too release the cellular glucose which in turn stimulates the nerves making the senses more alert. It is not the suger in the oats causeing "a nervy horse" but gives the indication that the cells in the body are retaining too much suger that is not being used, the vitamin E in oats is just the trigger which is releasing the stored glucose. Sweed Feeds are exactly that SWEET FEED! with very Little nutritional value, it is a processed feed of hay, grains and sweet beet pulp with soya protein, mineral and synthetic vitimin supplements added to the mix. If the vitimin E supplement in Sweet Feed were natural the horse would be feeling the same effects of oats, , but it doesn´t which means the cellular glucose is not being released as it should be. Horses on green pastures do not have this problem as the suger is being burnt off at a normal rate and the horses body adjust to it. Working horses on a good hay and oat diet do very well and need nothing more than water and a mineral/salt block.   Oats are LIFE for both man and horse, have been for a very long time.
