I’m 4 years in to simple video interviews for Biz Journal. They made it mandatory for the photographers to also shoot video interviews. I’m tired of running a bullshit mic connected to my dslr so I bought a Zoom H6 and a Rode NTG5. This video was huge! Massive thanks for the info. 🙌🏼👏🏼🤘🏼

This is random, but I’m getting crackling noises. I’m using a xlr mic to record directly into my iPhone.

The Mic isn’t showing up at all on multitrack mode, but shows up in stereo mode. Although the sound is being captured in stereo mode, it begins to crackle. Any advice?

Put the zoom h6 on automatic mode that will record by itself
And there will always be a clear sound?
I shoot at weddings and I'm not near the zoom h6

I do have a question, though, if maybe you can help - before I end up replacing it. Essentially, the pre-amps seem to offer a lot of noise when putting the gain knobs above 5 or 6. Do you have any ideas or tips for this, please? I have done some research and it seems it's very common with this unit.

I have managed to get a 'middle ground' with what I am needing it for, which is having the PAD on (to -20), the gain to 8, and 'mono' output. This still gives me noise, but is somewhat manageable to some degree in post edit (still learning this side of things).
