Don't do like I did and waste an hour searching for how to get a password that I already knew. It turns out it is the same password that I use to start up or unlock my computer every day. My situation happened when I accidently stored an incorrect password in the password manager thing. Chrome/Windows wouldn't let me fix it without entering my "Windows password." Anyway, now I know what that is.

For this to work, your locked computer must to be connected to a familiar network: wifi or wired.
Use you smartphone or another device with internet access
AND you must have previously have created a Microsoft account.
Computer are as smart as their user...

Reset Windows 10 user password without any software or CD

1. Turn on your computer
2. Right when you see the progress circle, do a hard shutdown (Hold down the power button till it shuts down ALL THE WAY)
3. Restart your computer and a failure notice appears and goes to "Diagnosing your PC", then "Automatic Repair" screen comes up with two buttons - Restart or Advanced - click Advanced
4. On the Troubleshoot screen click Advanced options
5. Click Command Prompt
6. Type net user > Enter (shows all usernames)
7. Type net user <username> * (note the space between the username and the asterisk. ALSO - if username is two words, put quotation marks around the username)
8. Type new PW (will not show) > Enter & retype (will not show) > Enter
9. OR, leave it blank for no password and press Enter, Enter.
10. You should get "The command completed successfully."
11. Yer done.
12. Exit out canceling any other options and shut down the computer (Not a restart)
13. Reboot the computer and enter the new password you created or Enter if you left it blank.

I don't understand what you're getting at. The only thing they're giving me is anything but my original password. They gave me passwords to email addresses and everything but still I can't get into my PC that's sitting next to me. It's driving me crazy. I've been at it for two days.
