Frankston council years ago declared itself to be a "Nuclear free" zone, with many street signs declaring this. I pointed out that radionucleotides were used extensively in the radiological medicine at the hospital and private radiological centers not to mention the local cancer treatment centers. Local council ignorance is a big problem in this day and age.

As more people charge their electric cars at home, the tax on electricity will increase. For the simple reason that the state has no plans to lower its income, what they lose on petrol and diesel they make up on electricity.

In WA the Govt had "Remote Charging Stations" built in various out of the way locations, these consist of metal roofed 'open sheds' with solar panels charging a battery which powers the charger. However, this will only half charge an average EV, so the Diesel Generator starts to finish the job. When this is depleted of fuel, a truck drives out to the "Remote" location and refills the tank. The subsidised cost of this, given 3 vehicles per day use every station is $750 per charge, of taxpayer's money. Yes the figures are right, straight from the contractor's mouth so to speak.

People are waking-up to the high cost and stupidness of EV ownership. Keep up your channel, Simon, to get the message to more people.

Why should councils install EV chargers, they don’t provide petrol stations for us?

This has stuff all to do with climate. This is all about getting people to stop driving altogether.

I sometimes wonder, has the world just turned stupid, or if there's some evil puppet master fueling the stupidity!

Congratulations on 75K subs. I remember when it was 2K. Kudos!

Apparently the more charging spaces occupied at a charging station the slower the overall charging becomes according to the maximum available power serving that station.

Best use cases : forklifts, INDOOR transport, Golf carts, and tiny commuters.

Not green at all, they simply MOVE THE POLLUTION ELSEWHERE.

Now if the guy in Melbourne had placed the fishing rod in the hands of a garden gnome, nobody would have noticed.😂

Imagine this in a storm, for a tiny fraction of a second you could get more kilowatts than you could ever dream of.

Keep up the good work by calling out this insanity.

I just can tell you this : here in Europe the mad push for EV's won't cease. Quite the opposite : in France they will create several new LEZ's, to ensure people will be forced to drop ice cars and switch to EV's. And starting from next year, all European manufacturers will be forced to sell much more EV's and much less ICE cars or will be forced to pay HUGE fines for every gram of CO2 higher than the limit that Europe will have picked (80 gr starting from 2025 and it will decrease until it reaches 0 in 2035). For me it will have 2 effects : manufacturers will have to not only sell much more EV's but these ones will have to be a lot cheaper and they will have to increase the ICE cars prices because of the fines. Side effect is that it will discourage people from buying ICE cars and will be forced to buy EV's.
It's clear Europe does not give a shit about the consequences on the manufacturers or on people...

In the UK we are allowed two hours of free parking at motorway service stations. This will have to be massively increased for an electric car future to allow sufficient charge time plus the queuing time to connect to the charger. 24 hours should be enough

You can’t just install the chargers. You have to maintain them too. In the US, many of the public level 2 chargers that were installed less than 2 years ago are just sitting idle because they’re broken and no money or planning was set aside to keep the stuff operating.

I had a Tesla drop kick telling me how he charges his Tesla at home from his home solar. I live off-grid on solar, so I knew he was full of bull normal solar array for a residential home is 6.6kw and when its sunny, might make 25 kw/hr per day. So, as I pointed out, "do you wait 4 days to recharge your Tesla and use no power at all in your home while it charges? " I got no reply. Realistically, someone would need 20kw of panels, that make 100 kw/hr per day, or a massive Energy Storage System (ESS) that could full charge a Tesla. Not that it would work during weeks of cold, overcast days that usually happen in winter.
