Like the way they double check the polarity before making the connection. makes sense.

Every bms connection is a future cold solder joint. Just crimp them. If you are going to solder it, heat the wires then let the wires melt the solder. Applying molten solder to cold wires does not bond them.

Nice job however I see one thing that could be improved which is BMS connectors. Solder is not as tough as you might think, it will either become cold joint later or melt when battery gets too hot (which may not happen with a healthy battery but a faulty or old one). Always crimp those connectors, that way even soldering is optional.

A NBR do Brasil proíbe o uso de estanho nas conexões, pois caso haja aquecimento elas irão soltar facilmente gerando curtos ou queimas de componentes do sistema. Eu mesmo já peguei casos assim onde vi na prática uma situação deste tipo, foi em uma manutenção envolvendo um disjuntor de caixa moldada e um mini disjuntor, nos dois casos o cabo perdeu aperto com o tempo e o mau contato gerou aquecimento ao ponto do estanho pingar no fundo do quadro, resultado: disjuntores perdidos, os contatos ficaram destruídos... e detalhe, o disjuntor não desarmou, acabou com o disjuntor mas ele não entendeu como sobrecarga, pois a corrente se manteve estável, por isso muitas casas pegam fogo por problemas elétricos envolvendo mal contato de conexões.

Crummy solder connections, but gave me a great idea to make my own battery pack for my RV inverter setup.

It's a good idea to put extra heatshrink tube over the BMS wires that are near terminal posts and bus-bars so they don't rub through due to vibration over time.

Si la batería toma temperatura. Cosa muy normal en ellas, la soldadura de estaño se derrite. Los terminales van cerrados por presión.

Genuine question. Why not use thicker wires inside the battery? Would it not be more effiecient?

The cables are too thin for the current from the batteries. The temperature will be high without a dissipation and ventilation system
