I'm from Quebec and I watch as many American films as French. I love Woody and had no problem with the fact that the film was shot in the language of Molière. The conversations seemed completely natural. On the other hand, it is true that when we know Allen's cinema, we feel that this film had no link with Paris or France. It was only a financial reason and the story was therefore changed at the last minute for this country. It seems to me that Woody said it himself. And it showed. Not to the point of making the film uninteresting though. I even find it fascinating to see Allen's usual antics in another language with respected actors and actresses from another country. However, I couldn't help but think about who could have played the roles in the United States. I was mechanically looking for American or English celebrities who looked like the French celebrities in the film. I do agree that it was better than the previous film (I could never understand the casting of Wallace Shawn in the latter). Anyway, apart from the stroke of luck at the end of the film, which is too premeditated and intellectual for my taste, I really liked this ''Coup de chance''.

I really enjoyed this movie. He is such a great director how he keeps the movie interesting without a boring or wasted scene.

I wish someone would review a Woody Allen film on its own It virtually NEVER happens. Every review has to bring his other films and start comparing which absolutely undermines the review and strips it of significance. Imagine explaining a song in terms of the singer's other songs, or Beethoven's 9th in terms of his 5th. It makes no sense and adds no value to the commentary, does it...
