Thanks. I have been searching for multiple hours to find the best phone/gimbal combo for multiple reasons, the most important of all of them is recording when i do presentations. I got down to the osmo and the smooth because they seem to have the best facial tracking software, which is what i need as i move around the stage. And a different video showed the lagging of facial tracking but didn't discuss it, so thank you for highlighting and commenting on it.

Nice review. Thanks. Have you played with the Zhiyun Smooth 3 that also just came out? I'd like to see a comparison between the Smooth Q ($139) and the Smooth 3 ($299) to see if the 2x price is justifiable. And if possible, also a comparison to their Crane-M ($399). I wish Zhiyun would make comparison videos for all their models ...

Very nicely covered with info not in some other reviews. Has tracking been improved at all? Also, the remote setup is cool, but it looks like you can't see what you're recording from the remote phone. Is that right? Wouldn't you be able to control the Osmo Mobile remotely from the Filmic remote app since Filmic supports Osmo Mobile (but not Smooth Q)?

Hey Johny, great review! I bought a SmoothQ because of it! It just got here today but I can't find the app you're using anywhere....only the stupid Zhiyun Assistant which doesn't really let you do anything. What's the app you're using in the video?

About the Smooth Q

Is it now better to use an other app (if yes, wich one?) or use the iPhone 7 CameraApp or the Zhiyun App?

Some major problems with the app. Slo-mo has very jerky movement, where as the built in camera app there is none. Both iPhones tested so far heat up excessively, and there must be a memory leak as battery power is drained very quickly. Manual controls are finicky they are hard to grab ( as you said) and not always sticky. In full sun not a good option. Problem is the built in camera app doesn't give you the button control on the handle so you have to use this app. Yet your batteries will be depleted quickly!

I found the DJI goes into "Earthquake mode" sometimes, especially when recording in TimeLapse. it vibrates so violently, that the entire tripod shakes! I wonder if this also happens with the Zhiyun Smooth Q? Also, is "Smooth Q" the latest version of Zhiyun? There are 4 out there, that I can find, and I cannot tell which is the latest one? Thank you!

Great video. Any tips on calibration. I using Samsung s8+ with this unit. . Also great info on using another phone to control the gimbal. This helps to do remote control of the gimbal.
