During the penalties, Nigeria showed they came ready for all things. The technical changes the coach made during extra time heading to the penalties said it all. And the lads that were brought in for the PK delivered perfectly.
Respect to SA for the heroic fight they put up. But truth be told Nigeria had clear edge... in terms of resilience, quality, and technicality.

Nigeria tried to win the game in both regulation and extra time. In the second half of extra time, South Africa quit and wanted penalties. They played well, but were naive to think that because of one game, penalties becomes a sure thing.

South Africa played so well and showed a maturity beyond most of what i've seen in recent times from African sides but they quit in extra time and stopped playing and that's why they lost. Penalties are a lottery and you can never rely 100% on penalties to win games. Its too risky.

I don't understand the praise for the south African team. Most of their players all play in desame clubside in South Africa. So you can see the cohesion in their team fluidity. That was the secret of the famous Egyptian side that won the AFCON three times in a row. Most of their players then play in Al Ahly or Zamelek in the Egyptian league. So you can't compare a Nigerian team assembled within two weeks players from various club sides to form a formidable team. So kudos to the Nigerian team.
