I would love to see recommendations for harder to pick/break locks. For those of us looking to purchase a decent lock, like this, would be nice to see what was harder to get into.

Is there a locking hitch pin that you would recommend?

Thankyou Thankyou and Thankyou!! I put this pin in two plus years ago. I forgot how it operated.
You and Google!!

Hmmm. I think you should do this while the lock is on a hitch receiver. Picking a lock in ideal conditions is no challenge compared to picking it in the field, where it was designed to be most effective.

Quicker then picking this kind of lock if it's still on the vehicle is to place a length of galvanized pipe over the locking end. Give a slight pull and the lock snaps off at it's thinnest weakest point, every time. Replace the lock with a Grade 8 Bolt, secured in place by a Lock Nut on the threaded end. It's cheaper than these locks and takes longer for thieves to remove. Adding a bit of J-B Weld to the remaining exposed threads greatly increases the time and effort needed to remove, most thieves don't want to work this hard.

Thanks. I think I'll go with this lock. It's cylinder style means not as many random people are going to have the impressioning tool to open it quickly. I just need to get across the country.

Nice job! There's a technique for tubular picks which is how they were originally intended to be used. I suppose it is a refinement of the 'wiggle like hell' technique. It will open many locks that wiggling alone won't. So you reset he tool and insert it into the lock but before you tension, withdraw the tool a very small amount. Then tension and take your impression. Repeat. The amount that you want to be withdrawing the pick is the amount of 'wiggle' that you would get when a pin is at the shear line and under tension.

Can you add your personal opinion or personal rating of locks? Every lock you pick looks easy to pick, so they all seem useless. But how easy is it really?

Love the variety of locks you show/pick!

I remember seeing my bike lock opened using a simular core like that with a half chewed end of a Bic Biro pen by my friend. This was in the 1980's. I can't believe they still make em. lol

Are there any that you suggest? Of course Master or Reese are not an option lol. Thanks for the videos

Thanks for sharing. I spent alot of time searching for a descent hitch pin lock. I ended up with a stainess one similar to this but with a wafer lock, had a 9mm hole machined in it (before the wafer lock) and have an all stainless marine Lockwood 334M45 and added some commercial serrated pins. When I get my new trailer, I'll put a BiLock core in it. I see so many fantastic devices around like for couplings etc but all fail on the cylinders like this one! Damn frustrating. Thanks for confirming it's demise LPL.

I wonder if you could modify a core spinner for tubular locks, that would negate the need for multiple picking

why no responses to the many comments asking for which is the BEST hitch pin. OR for any of the locks you post videos on.

Stupid question maybe, but what would you lock up with that "rod"? And yeah, unbelievable that they still sell locks that can be impressioned.

even if it wasn't a crummy lock, the materials used elsewhere are cheap. Even a basic setup, and the paint(it's not powder coated), comes off and the metal starts rusting. It's not even a slightly resistant alloy.
