The new Africa Twin just got to our garage. It's the Adventure Sports version, with electronic suspension, and it's our test bike for 2020. Unfortunately it's too cold for a ride, so for the moment we're just getting to know each other.

January 2016 I tested the first edition in snowy rainy conditions and ordered directly. When I received it in April it was already sold out in Germany. 4 years ago I felt by heart how Honda would change and „improve“ the A.T. in the coming years and I can fully understand Honda financial wise going this way and catch some of the potential convenience „adventure“ bike buyers from BMW. As an adventure and travel oriented biker which carries the philosophy lighter and less is better I must say the first edition of the Africa Twin in my opionion is the most true adventure oriented version: Monochrome display, only ABS and traction control, nothing else which can break and fail. No more buttons and functions, modes etc. which just grabs your attention and confuses you. The pure spirit of being able to do the mechanic work on your own. Thats the reason why I never would be driving a GS how good it really is. You are a dependent slave of the dealer with a computer. I know people with keyless go function on their bike and suddenly the engine died and refused to restart and the end was to be carried to the dealer. Imagine that far away in Kirgistan guys! That is NOT the future. Don‘t let them fetch you so simple, its all about the route, nature, you and your bike. Nothing else matters...

I already tested it, it drives and handles great again, but its more quit with the euro 5 compared to the 18 model, you really have to floor it to achieve the rally sound and to open the second valve, as for the electronics.. wheelie control.. its superb

Its the best big-bore adventure bike on the market by far.

I'm not sure but I think Honda may have over done it with the new Africa twin. The big plus with the old one was price and simplicity, everyone loved it, but it was missing just a few things. People asked for cruise control and tubeless tyres, as many thought that's all it was missing. But Honda didn't stop there, they gave it everything going. It's now going into battle on price point with the likes of BMW and KTM, who's going to pay that much for a bike because of it's off road capability if that's what their after ( T7 anyone?), or for a 100 bhp bike. The original AT stood in a group of just one, now it's in the same pond as some very big fish. For the sort of money Honda are now asking for it, there is a lot of other stuff to pick from.

Ive been riding long and for fifty years. In my not so humble opinion, with bikes like this leading the charge (pun intended) the next decade will see the pinnacle of ICE motorcycles. The last time I rode the AT DCT it brought me way back to the early sixties when I was with Linda Bluteau in her parents’ basement . . . so close! This new model may just take me to where I want to go . . .

Ive been very happy with my 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sports DCT - its a superb bike and really a bike you could use for everything - well apart from track days I guess!

I stand 183 cms and believe me, seeing this bike in flesh is a completely different experience. Loved the attention to detail on this one at the Honda Showroom in the UAE. Despite my height, I felt the bike is really tall ( i love that ). You see this one and you really start thinking if you would ever need anything more on a bike, . Please please do road trip like you did on the KTM 790 adventure and will be a worthy comparison with other bikes as well as the Africa Twin itself based on your Kyrgystan Ride. Thank you again.

I like the new one, top of the line, but it is expensive.

The seat is a big improvement. I'm 1, 85 and in the previous version I was strangling to step my feet full down in the normal position.

Very nice walk around video! I love the new bike! I hope to get one soon! I want the tubeless tires, so it's the AS for me, although I am not loving the appearance of the red white and blue! I wish there was a choice on that for the AS! Thanks for sharing this information with the world! Best wishes from the USA.

Cara eu nunca fui fã da Africa Twin, mas confesso que agora a Honda me conquistou principalmente com este modelo 2020 .

They need to ditch the white frame, it's an adventure bike and will look a mess most of the time, more so than a black or grey frame.
Also I wonder if they have made air filter access better on this new model, the first gen of the new AT was a royal pain in the ass to access the air filter!
Glad to see the updated TFT screen and cruise control and the large fuel tank.

Interesting bike, very expensive. How many of us have accidentally hit the horn in our garages, and jumped like Christian. That was FAF. (we’ve all done it) 👍🏼 👏👏👏 😎

I enjoyed the accent of narrator more than bike itself
