You can get over the pipes in the pipe level with the mini mushroom. I was disappointed that he didn’t use the trick.

Whenever me and my friend played multiplayer, we always did the snow LVL, because THE FUKNG BLUE SHELL IS FUKING AWWESOME we called it 'shell patrol'. Good times...
