Scot and Dawn Pollard share his heart transplant experience.
For better or worse doesn't do this story justice. It is an emotional and impactful conversation. The 11-year NBA veteran and NBA Champion with the Celtics has been in involved with fights before (Malice in the Palace with Pacers vs Pistons) but this was a fight for his life.
Scot and Dawn share with you the viewers their journey. The onset, the failing heart, the weakness, wheeling him into the hospital and knowing he wasn't leaving until a transplant was completed. The wait, the fears, the anxiety, the inner strength and faith. The advances in medicine and a great care team have him on the mend with constant follow up.
There will be a documentary soon, but I am grateful they took the time to share the story for you on my platform.

Hey 👋 Scott & Dawn,

Thank you Coach Scott for having them on as I have been following his journey for quite sometime now.He gives us who are struggling with heart failure Hope!

My journey has been a bit different as I was born with CHD and had multiple OHS and procedures before my teens. I unfortunately know what you felt Scot when your heart felt like you were running a marathon for days. I never want to experience that feeling ever again. Had to be cardioverted 2x and had multiple ablations as well. Even with having a pacemaker/ ICD implanted I feel sometimes it gives me anxiety knowing it can go off any time but I do understand it’s there for my benefit. I’m fully paced myself at 80 but I know exactly what you were referencing when they adjust your pacemaker and check the leads… I almost fainted a few times from it.

My cardiologist in Tampa linked me up with My transplant team is at Shands in UF when that day does come for me. I understand the brain 🧠 fog and the fatigue as well. Being someone who’s been active and was even a FF it is rough to except most days because you feel like you just need to chill for a second and you’ll feel better the next day.

Dawn your a rock also… My wife has been through so much throughout my journey thus far and not sure I would have got this far without her by my side. This painted a very good picture of what I will have to endure when my time comes. Anxiety and panic I’m sure will set in when the time comes as well Scot but seeing how you’ve come full circle is amazing.
Doctors and nurses are earths angels and I know my faith will get me through.

You both will continued to be in my thoughts & prayers.
