I still have a 14 inch Patton fan and it was bought new for $40 us at the Home Depot months after I was born, it’s a real high velocity fan unlike the new ones from the big box stores.

At work, we have these big ass fans 24" Aireye fans. Dont get me wrong, they are very, very nice fans, variable speed DC motor, with a senseme motion sensor, the black and yellow color scheme, really neat! They do retail around 1000$ usd.

I bring in my old 1942 ILG ILGWIND 272 since my work area does not have a fan in it. Sure, it's heavy, but it man its really quiet with a Q Type blade. The performance is blowing those 1000$ Aireye fans away. Sure, it does not have the fancy options, but it really grabs the attention of people who aren't even interested in fans! They even love the crazy start-up sounds! People recognized quality, and this video really proves the same concept with old and new.

I have to take home my ILG every day just so nobody takes it away from me lol, they dont build them like they used to. Each year, it just feels like they make a cheaper and crappy product. It's sad to see, really.

Been a while since you’ve gone a comparison! The Patton is obviously better.

The Patton fans just look beefier and better built. I have two older Pattons with the blue blades, a 14” and 18”, both I bought second hand at local swapmeets. Despite the age and a little rust, they are both beasts.

Just like everything keep your old Patton fan and enjoy the good memories. I just received my new 18-inch version on Amazon, price just under $100. It is basically the commercial electric fan with a Patton label. and made in China. It has the same exact hooked fan blades and small motor that the commercial electric one has. I think Patton now is just another label from a generic manufacturer.

Also the Stanley yellow high velocity fan on Amazon I consider it to be ranking in between the patton and the commercial electric in terms of quality and performance.

Any idea where I can find the U2-1887 replacement blade? Mine has the stamped blade and cracked right next to the hub.

What would be the difference between a 3 blade and 5 blade design? Both being 20 inch floor/work fan.

would you happen to know the blade pitch on the patton fan's blade?

The three speeds on the patton are real speeds, the three speeds on the modern fan are not real speeds. They are like high, high 2 and high 3.

That's not even a fair fight.
iLIVING ILG8F21 has a 3.0A motor that is the same size as the one in the Patton.
I think it can fight the Patton to a draw.
