The Boeing 737 Max jet can take to the skies for the first time since a design flaw led to two deadly crashes in 2019. CBS News transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave reports on what changes Boeing says it made to the model, and how one family of a crash victim is reacting.

Each weekday morning, "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs. The broadcast has earned a prestigious Peabody Award, a Polk Award, four News & Documentary Emmys, three Daytime Emmys and the 2017 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast. The broadcast was also honored with an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award as part of CBS News division-wide coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. I’m not going on that plane still what😂, no offense but I don’t want to be a death statistic. Build a new plane. You’ve lost my trust

My uncle is a experience Vietnam veteran pilot who flew the 737 max. He noticed the glitch and manually corrected it when he flew this plane. He said the Glitch should not be a problem for an experienced veteran pilot, but understands how less experienced pilots wouldn’t know what to do when a glitch like this occurred.
I bet this glitch occurred and just about every flight.
I believe the Boeing had a better system in place reporting problems with their planes the situation could have been avoided.

The design flaw is that the plane needs the MCAS in the first place because they stuck new engines on an old airframe design.

This is what happens when you do a poor job engineering and have to fix it with electronics. Maybe they should have built a plane that flys properly, instead of cutting corners to maximize profit, which is exactly what happened.

Let the Beoing CEO, CFO, COO, CTO and all the executive members test flight this aircraft first, then I'll consider getting on it.

Double check when purchasing your air ticket.

I worked at Boeing during this whole thing. I wouldn’t step foot on this plane if you paid me.

Some Pilots have expressed how the protocols to deal with new system are overly complicated and too difficult to implement in the case of an emergency. This just seems like a business move from Boeing and the FAA. Disgusting.

I thought the US was all about free markets, why not tell people what aircraft they are flying on before the book the flight and see what the customers want?

I’ll do everything I can to avoid flying the 737 Max.

Never ever fly in one, they will try changing the name. Not gonna work.

The last time an aircraft had this much scrutiny was back in the 70s when the DC-10 was blowing off cargo doors mid-flight. People forgot about it pretty quick since they carried passengers well into the 2000s and still carry cargo today. This whole 737 MAX controversy will be nothing more than a faint memory by this time next year.

Don’t fly on this plane. They all need to be completely destroyed. Trust the comments of the father. He is 100 % correct. It is a design flaw regarding engine placement on the wings that cannot be corrected.

I CANT WAIT TO FLY IN THIS PIECE OF 💩!

My parents died on a ✈️ crash and I sincerely miss them.
At least we’ll be together.
People need to start looking at this from the bright side.
