One of the greatest nights of my entire life. I’m 23 and the M’s hadn’t made the playoffs since I was 2. My older brother and I suffered through many, many tough seasons over the years between 2001-2022, and we saw this together live on RootSports. I can’t think of a more magical moment in Mariners history or even baseball history. Two outs, 3-2 slider and Cal Raleigh hits a walk-off homer to send the Mariners to the playoffs on Fan Appreciation Night. My brother and I went to the game the next day and not only did they win, but it just felt so special being at the first game the Mariners played in 21 years where they had made the playoffs, after they had clinched the game before. The 2023 season starts on Thursday, but part of me just wants to live in this 2022 season forever. This was and possibly will be the most special Mariners season I will ever see in my whole life. Even though they didn’t end up making it to the World Series, i have confidence saying that pretty much every Mariner fan was just simply ecstatic and proud that we made the playoffs after so long. I will never forget how amazing those 2022 Seattle Mariners were and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the table in 2023.

I know it's not the same for someone like me who only jumped on when the going got good, but I'm glad I could watch the drought come to an end. And what a way to do it.

Watching this in the bar, my reaction was astoundingly nonchalant. I basically thought: “Oh well of course the Mariners broke their 21 year playoff drought with a walkoff homerun in a 1-1 game in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs a full count; of course Cal Raleigh did that.” I could just feel the moment and knew how good the team was and what a penchant for dramatic nail-biters they have. Absolutely destiny moment!

I was listening in Colorado. I'd been waiting for another Playoff Berth since 2001, and when this happened, I just had the biggest smile on my face. It was so great to have the M's in the postseason again, and I only hope they continue to rise.

I honestly think Cal's HR here could be up there with the Double in terms of best hits in M's history.
