For those who want to know:
"A level 100 Shuckle can potentially deal the most damage in one single attack through the use of numerous stat boosters; by using Helping Hand by two different Pokémon in a Triple battle, holding a Metronome, Power Trick, a Skill Swap to Pure Power or Huge Power, 6 Attack boosts, and a Mimiced Me First used on a slower Pokémon using the Defense Curl/Rollout combo. Also, Shuckle's partner must have the ability Flower Gift and the weather must be sunny. On the 5th turn of using Rollout consecutively without any misses, if used against a level 1 Ledyba, Yanma or Combee with minimum Defense stats, that have been hit with negative Defense modifiers (such as Screech), it can deal 481, 266, 036 damage with a critical hit." - Bulbapedia

IIRC Ledyba’s 1997 beta sprite DID have five stars on its back, and I’m guessing they just never changed its category

Curious that they wanted Quilava as a Pokémon starting with Q in the same generation they added Qwilfish and Quagsire

I understand *why*, but man it just feels like Remoraid and Octillery got robbed compared to their beta designs.
Also, one of my favorite fun facts is that Bellossom had a different color palette in prerelease art, more similar to Vileplume's, and in gen 2 only, that coloration is used for her shiny

Octillery and Remoriad are reminiscent of the Octobomb and Gunfish enemies respectively from Game Freak's Mega Drive action game, Pulseman. It's also a well known fact that *_WATER CAN DESTROY PULSEMAN_* because it shorts out his electric powers... in stark contrast to how electric is super-effective against water in Pokemon. Maybe Pulseman convinced Game Freak to let him do the destroying for a change.

Entei's name is a combination of one of the Japanese words for Flame and one of the other Japanese words for Emperor. Suicune is the only Legendary beast that's name doesn't contain a word that translates to Emperor although it does contain one of the Japanese words for water and monarch.

Surprised by how many of these I didn't know. Awesome stuff 👍

To save everyone else the trouble of looking it up like I did, Croconaw isn't allowed on the GTS because it contains "con", which is apparently French for "c*nt"

Houndour can be obtained before beating the game in Ultra Sun too. Although not caught, there's a chance it'll appear in the Poké Pelago once the player has reached Poni Island. It can also be hatched from an egg, also in Ultra Sun, if you catch a Houndoom on Route 12. Gosh, they really don't want you to have this one during the main story, do they?

Fact about Lugia: It was not originally intended to be in the games. In the 1997 Spaceworld Demo the leaked ROM has a full Pokédex programmed into the game, and Lugia is nowhere to be found, there isn't even a Pokémon that remotely resembles it in the Pokédex. It was most likely added to coincide with the anime. Also, Pokémon like Togetic, Wooper and Sunkern weren't planned to be included either, despite Togepi, Quagsire and Sunflora being in the game albeit with slightly different sprites, with Sunflora in particular having a minor redesign to having feet as it originally had roots and was stuck in the ground. Beta Sunflora really reminds me of Undertale's Flowey.

you could breed a hitmonlee with Hi Jump Kick to a Tyrogue in GS then evolve it to Hitmonchan, then trade it back into a Gen 1 game, and use it for Stadium. Hi Jump Kick would then be a Pink attack, meaning it normally can't have the move.

Papasea- "Sentret was the only pokemon categorised as Scout until Hisuan Growlithe"
Patrat- "Am I a joke to you?!"

Hugh's hair looks more like Braviary's plumage than a Quilfish. Team Plasma needs to learn how to throw insults 😂

You awakened some core memories when you showed the Topps trading card! I loved those things. Idk if I specifically had the one with Pikablu, but I know I knew that name back then.

Typhlosion did have its first Anime appearance in the generation 2 series, its debut appearance was in "Raikou - The Legend of Thunder" which came out in Japan on 30th December 2001. Yes it was a special were Ash wasn't the main character, but it's part of the main Anime series.

I really wish they would make a variant of Octillary that's Water/Steel even if it's just an evolution of it.

Flaaffy also didn’t appear until the gen 3 anime.
