How to select the portion of lines from a file using notepad++

Notepad++ is really very good tool to work on files.
How to cut or copy some portion from the file lines?
1. Open the file in Notepad++.
2. Press Alt.
3. Using mouse select the portion of lines from the file.

How to do on mac as there's no alt button on it. I tried with option button but its doesn't work

Absolutely brilliant, it should have worked like this by default all long, thank you, you are a saviour from these infuruating and unneccessary burden in my life for 20 years. Shame microsoft and apple have no brain cells to have done this 20 years ago and prevented 20 years of stress.

Thanks you saved my some time, as i was using excel "text to colomn" to delimit and copy, it is surely easier than copy paste in excel and delimitation.
