The Powertec Workbench Multipress

In this video, I review The Powertec Multipress. I have had 3 Multipress machines over the last 15 years and each model has been an improvement over the last. I also compare the Multipress to the Levergym.

Good to see the Levergym back! The multipress looks like a good option. The height of the lever arms are definitely better positioned for pressing. I wish Powertec didn't make their benches wider at the low back support area. It doesn't make sense to me, plus it is uncomfortable when doing chest supported rows. Good to see you used the sticker numbers (thanks for the shout out!) and I hope you didn't hurt your head too bad.

It looks incredible! My problem is two car garage gym is full rack bikes, treadmill, sauna, titan squat max md, xmark leg curl, punching bag etc. If this thing didn't have bench attached and I could use my other one would be so sweet! I totally can see why you prefer this to lever arms faster like you said and probably better angles and can press as one or unilaterally.

That was an excellent review. I was wondering how my upper body and arms would measure up and you measured it for us. Nice. All of your videos are great. On sale now and will order one tomorrow Thanks Powertec's equipment is great!

Would love to see an update on this one to get converging lever arms. Also, would be nice if they made the connection point on the back height adjustable to ensure you always have an ergonomic range of motion

I've realised with the LeverGym that:
Decline = steep decline
Flat = regular decline
Slight incline = Flat... etc.

I usually love Decline Presses, but the issue I have with Declines on the Levergym is that if I go much heavier than 2x45 a side, I start sliding up the bench.

Great review. I kind of wish I had bought the multipress over the levergym. I don't really use the pulley system at all on it after buying a dedicated lat/low pulley tower. I ended up pushing my levergym in a corner to save space blocking the pulley system. They really should add band pegs to the next version of the multipress though.

it's always nice to see one of my benches (i have two because i used two rooms, the other one is from bodycraft). I used the bench with the different attachments and its a great bench. I buy after i saw your video about it in the past and your recommendation when i ask. Good video Hacky!

I had the levergym. Sold it and regretted it. I now have the exact same isolateral multi-press bench which I find very versatile and great for a garage gym.
BTW, All that gym kit, taking over bedrooms, taking delivery. Your wife sounds *&£(/=ing awesome!😂

Hey, this was a great review and actually what pushed me to buy the machine. I really enjoy it! I was hoping to bug you with a quick question if you get around to it.

1) How have you found your workouts convert to free weights? On the PowerTec I'm up to 205 lbs for bench for 3 sets of 5 (so 184 effective weight using their calc). Have you found that converts well to actual bench? I finally have the opportunity to mix in some gym workouts again and want to give myself some reasonable targets.

I own a Multi press workbench (MP-16) as it’s a 2016 model. The one I have does not come with the plate that attaches to the upright tube to give you many options to set and fine tune the placement of the lever arms for bench and shoulder pressing. I wish I waited for the current model but I’m happy with what I have.

Nice review.

Great video man! I hope your head is ok. I know I have smoked the back of my head on the Rep nameplate a number of times, and it isn’t fun! Both of these pieces are awesome.

I’d like to see a power tower/basic trainer attachment added to the bench.

Hey I noticed that you mentioned doing shoulder press facing the bench.

Does it work the same muscles as not facing the bench? Is it as effective while protecting your shoulder joint?

Thanks!

As always, nice review. I'm glad your experience was better than mine. I have several Powertec pieces that I have been very happy with, Powertec rack, leg sled, leverage squat. But unfortunately this piece is not one of them due to a problem you mentioned that some people had reported. I had an old model that wasn't centered. Got rid of the old model and bought a new model. (You are right very easy to put together). But to my dismay the new model was off center as well! I tried taking it apart and putting back together several times but no luck. I think the back piece on mine is defective causing the issue. I asked for a replacement part but they sent me the wrong part which did not fix the problem. I need to go back to them again. Since the bench is attached being off centered destroys the usability/value of this machine.
