The number one rule to keeping your guitar healthy today is don't let other people play your guitar. That is good for your health too.

Your instructions on intonation are just a little bit misleading… Fret the note at the 12th and check that against the harmonic and/or the open note using a good tuner. If the note is flat, it needs to move toward the pick up and if the note is sharp it needs to move away from the pick up. Otherwise, thanks for the great content!

You can't check intonation by ringing the harmonic against the open string. You have to check the fretted note at the 12th. The 12th fret harmonic will always ring out the same because it's a node at the midpoint of the scale length that basically can't be out of tune, unless you knock it sharp with pick attack. If you want, you can check the fretted 12th against the harmonic at the 12th, but checking the open string against a 12th fret harmonic does not help when setting intonation.

Yup. what he said. Plus keep neck radius in mind when setting the string height. Plus everything that involves keeping frets smooth and shiny.

It is so pleasing that your guitar and your shirt match colours.

Great video! Replacing a nut is pretty easy enough, too. I replaced a stock nut with a Graphtech nut and it wasn't too complicated of a process. -BenFo

I heard that urinating on your fret board can be helpful. I might be wrong.

I adjust my neck as flat as I can. I also use graduated 12th fret action (for bass): 2.75 mm B string, 2.5 mm E string, 2.25 mm A string, and the rest at 2 mm. It plays like butter on all 6 strings without the strings flapping around, thus solving the problem that others have tried to solve with fanned frets.

Clean it for 20 seconds, don’t touch the pickups... no, that’s something else. 🤦‍♂️

guitar maintenance used to be fun. But as the collection grows and the length of time Ive been playing (now into the 32 year of playing) continues to go on... i just hate it now. lol. but if i put a movie on, it seems to be less tedious.

Keep a fretboard hydrated with lemon oil 1-2 times a year. Especially when it's dry out. This will prevent fret sprout and cracked binding!

Sounds like info for beginners, but thanks Fluffmeister. So common to see seasoned players who don't know how to make their guitar/bass sound right between setups!
