Start applying for a new job now if u know 5 months away u could be layed off, be preemptive and have an exit strategy.

These are the kind of people that REALLY need Dave.

I think it’s time for him to get proactive and look for a new job before the storm comes ...just saying

At what point do people think when taking out credit...enough is enough?

I will have my Honda paid off by next May - 3 years earlier than expected (yeah I financed it and yeah I just got on my debt free journey back in April - I know better now 😌). I plan to keep this baby for a while!

Lost me with the car. My Honda has 209, 000.

Maybe start looking for a better opportunity? I wouldn't want to be the one to show up to work and have them tell you they don't need you anymore 👎

I'd say he should start looking for a new job. Since he has 5+ months he could probably find a good job making the same or more money. You don't want to wait until you get laid off and have to take the first job you can find.

If his wife worked just a basic part time job, it would help a whole lot.

Worked 25 years on third shift while spouse worked first. No mortgage no day care one less car no student loans needed. This can be done. Most of my co workers do the same.

If this guy has an opportunity to stay with his company and make 65000 and drive 50 mile commute he should keep his job

*Although I do sympathize with him... I do wonder what's up with our society to let people go down this rabbit hole??*

Seriously! Years of working = easily replaceable job position + no emergency fund + tons of debt? 🤷‍♀️

If they live near family, wifey can work part time and get some help from relatives instead of expensive daycare.

Being moved 50 miles should not be a problem, our family moved around much more than that and we are split between Ohio and Dubai.

I would not worry about debt at this point. His job is ending in 5 months which comes faster than you think. He needs to stack cash and attack the debt once he finds a new job. No good to be debt free and broke needing credit to live. $65k for 4 people is broke!
