In this video an enemy Su-25K came over to say hi. At first I thought he had it in for me, but then he tried to save me. Sadly he had to fall back and I never saw him again. However, his efforts will not go unnoticed!

"The murder of a man is still murder, even in wartime."
"But remember, our tasks is to bring down aeroplanes, not men. So stop firing when your opponent's falling. Gentlemen, we are sportsmen, not butchers."

-Manfred von Richtofen, A.K.A. The Red Baron

Fun fact: This very thing actually happened in WW2. A German pilot named Franz Stigler spotted an American B-17 and took off in his bf-109 to shoot it down. However, when Stigler got closer and noticed how heavily damaged the bomber was, he decided the crew of that plane had been through enough for one day and escorted the bomber back to allied territory, giving the crew a salute before returning back to German territory. In 1990, the pilot of the B-17, Charlie Brown met Franz Stigler in person, and they became close friends until they passed away in 2008.

I’ve seen this work before and the guy joined my party saying “Let your engine stall, I’ll steer you home buddy.” I cut power to my damaged engine on the crippled wing and he escorted my plane to a nearby runway. Coolest War Thunder interaction I’ve had yet.

I knew someone was going to mention the events in WW2 involving a heavily damaged B-17 and a BF-109 escorting the bomber to safety

Plot twist: he was out of ammo and was using himself as the ammo

This is why pilots are described as Knights of the sky

Something similar happened to me once.

I was flying the stirling and I had just dropped all my bombs, as I was heading back to base I noticed my entire team had died. So I said in the chat that I would J out after I had landed, several enemies replied with thanks but one in particular was amazing. A bf109 flew over and escorted me back to my airfield. It was just like what’d happened in the real war but with a damaged b17. I will never forget that moment.
Update: I had completely forgot about this post so I’ll tell you what happened in the match.
Once I was getting closer to the ground, the tickets were going down a lot, and my team (me) was winning. The enemy didn’t shoot me down, but congratulated me for being a good sport, and they let me end the round as I was going in for a landing with a win.

He is no ordinary enemy. He is a hero, a friend, a soldier, a man who is tired of fighting, heartbroken and does not want anyone else to experience the same feelings. Respect is earned son thanks for your help
