For those who want to know the specifics: most of your white blood cells are of one of two types: macrophages or neutrophils. They go about it slightly differently, but have the same basic job: swallow germs, trap them in acid, and smash whatever isn't you until it's dead. However, their attacks largely don't work on microplastics. As a result, your body's anti-parasite defenses kick in, which have much heavier weapons. In particular, mast cells release chemicals like histamine and heparin to try to flush the microplastics out of your body and "kill" the invader. These are the same cells that are responsible for the symptoms of allergic reactions, very scary stuff.

Your channel made me understand the scale of the problem of microplastics. People are fooled when they think they can avoid microplastics when they aviod drinking from plastic bottles and use waterfilter. Little do they know that microplastics are in the air we breeth and are almost impossible to aviod injesting.

What is the biggest worry here is the nanoplastics that can be in the air.

The solution is we should have phased out non organic plastics for biodegradable plastics starting 25 years ago. I've read some studies about kefir/probiotics culture and it's affect on microplastics would be interesting if you could study that. But basically we are screwed and it's probably causing the rise in cancers among young people and other chronic and neurological diseases. All the stuff people blame vaccines for.

We need to remove all plastic and quarantine it from our environment. Not all plastics right away. But it should start with waste plastic outside. Its crazy that i see plastic outside everyday laying in the street. Every time i see one i try and pick it up
