The hasapiko (Greek: χασάπικο), is a Greek folk dance from Constantinople. Hasapiko is a very popular, relatively modern Greek circle dance. It is a lively hopping style dance, it has become known as the "sailors" dance, a very popular dance at Greek festivals, weddings and special events all over the world. Hasaposerviko which followed the Hasapiko is a fast paced dance and resembles the Jewish "Hora".
The 22nd Annual Palm Desert Greek festival was sponsored by Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Palm Desert, California. The event was scheduled for
Saturday, February 17, 2018 (10:30 AM – 9 PM) and Sunday, February 18, 2018 (11:00 AM – 8 PM)!! The Panigiri (Festival) provided an opportunity to experience the authentic Greek cuisine, appetizers, Heavenly Pastries as well as a great selection of Spirits. Event consisted of Greek dance lessons, the Agora (marketplace) where souvenirs, jewelry, clothing and art from various vendors was displayed and kid’s games. This event was for an entire family to enjoy!! Live Greek Music was performed by the Awesome “3 Greeks LA”. Greek folk dancing group was performed by Gypsy Folk Ensemble, an Outstanding group of various ages and nationalities.
