I experienced this in my first playthrough. The worst part is that that's almost exactly what I've been telling everyone trying to flirt with me. Fuck sake Halsin, I just wanted to have a beer, why did you think I was flirting with you way back at the party?

Ouch. I had that happen on a replay while romancing her and it crushed me. So, tip of the day, if you are trying to romance a party member, take A LOT of long rests in Act 1 and especially in Act 2. Like way more than you need to. Like so many long rests. It is very easy to show up in Act 3 and have all the romance dialogue replaced with dialogue about how things fizzled out...
