Our adventure from cash tank to the hanging gardens at west clear creek arizona.

Glad you were honest about the ten hour hike time. And also about how bad the road is. This hike can only be done in warm weather and only when there is no threat of monsoon rain. So there is a very small window of opportunity. You must be physically fit and ready to endure a lot to accomplish this. I have always just chosen to stay the night so I can enjoy it. If you are going to use flotation, know that foams that don't pop might be a better solution. I keep all my stuff in dry bags. I can't stress enough how bad that road is. Also this is a dangerous canyon with potential for flash floods (you can die). Also this is some very difficult terrain to hike and you can take a beating, and injury in there means an expensive rescue. Also if you don't do this in hot weather there is the problem of hypothermia. I have been hiking this canyon for the last 30 years and this is not a place to take lightly.

Contemplating on the same hike, your video is the most lengthy (and thus detailed) so it is very helpful! Especially after watching some of the videos about hanging garden that involve ropes, makes me almost forego this hike. Yours makes it clear that it is doable with young teens. This also helps me plan on camera gear and shot angles ahead of time. Thank you!

--- THANK YOU for memories --- We (2 ) went thru WCC ( 142E, Bull pen) in June of 1995, it took us 5 days ( not a place to get hurt/in trouble). The first day I found a life saving hiking staff that saved me big time - still have it. We had one man little rubber rafts attach to outside of our backpacks to get thru the slots, I counted 5 patches on mine at the end of a amazing trip.

You two are so cute. Welcome to WCC, slip, splash and burrrr! Do you live in AZ? We are a bit older than you two so we tackle WCC via some of the easier drop in points with no real mandatory swims for the most part. In regards to your popped floats, I always carry a whole roll of Pink Duct Tape(Pink because it stands out in the woods) in my Back Pack. It has a hundred uses on the trail. Good times! Me and a few friends are going to do this hike/swim this upcoming weekend, if the weather is good. We are going to spend the night at the garden. Question; are there any trees you can hang a hammock from? Also is there any room to setup a tent?

Great Job on your video! This hike looks amazing. I'm planning on doing this hike in the next month and am trying to decide between trying to drive my RAV4 to where you went in vs just hiking the extra miles. Do you think a RAV4 would make it if I go slow?
