Paraview Tips’n Tricks – Save time by saving states | Tech Queen Roxy

Your time is precious. Our one and only Tech Queen Roxy demonstrates how you can save a bunch of it by using states in ParaView.

A state is the collection of all filters and settings you have applied on one case. By saving this state and applying it to a similar case, you can easily automate time-consuming and repetitive work. Roxy demonstrates this workflow by using the classic pitzDaily tutorial case of OpenFOAM.

How to make animated plots in paraview? Basically looking for a output widow in which we can visualize how variables are changing using plots with time (not just static output) .

I was trying to use a state file with a different geometry but that did not work. For eg, I used the state1 file for a pitz-daily case with a longer length, but everything else was the same - slice along z-normal, profiles along the y-axis etc. Does the state file only work with the same geometry but different input parameters like different inlet velocity as in your case.

Hello, I am extracting some data from paraview, and I have to do the same action again and again for many simulation files. Is there a way to automate this data extraction (into csv file) process using states? thanks.

hello Queen Roxy
it is very informative video.
in my case want to calculate Wall Shear Stress in a pipe with BC as pulsatile flow.
so my query is how i can plot the WSS at particular location over a one pulse in a domain.
i tried it by using the OpenFOAM utility sampling/probeLocation but it will show (0 0 0).
please in advance
