Thanks for sharing I never even noticed the dial for the hot water on the boiler! Just looked now & it was on max! Just turned it down to be in the middle! Hopefully that will help with my bills as I’m not currently using the boiler, due to the sun we’ve been getting! Just hot water for the bath in morning & night!

Thinking about that, I like a bath as hot as I can stand so slways have it set at max (65 I think). I add a bit of cold then top up as it cools. But wait, if I want my bath 45c and set the water at 45c then the boiler will be on all the time I am filling the bath. If I set the water at 60c sure it will use more gas but for not as long, as I will need to turn off the hot and add cold. So will it make much difference? Using less gas for longer or more gas for shorter time?

I have a system boiler and unvented cylinder with a gledhill thermostat on my tank which is set to 65. The temp numbers on thermostat run from 25 to 65. I notice the boiler is firing to heat water at random times. I assume there must be a minimum temp on the thermostat that fires the boiler if it hits that. Is that correct? I can't think what else could be causing it to start the boiler.

What about modern digital combination boilers?

What if my combi boiler is turned all the way up but my bath water is always lukewarm? The kitchen and bathroom sink water both get too hot to touch though.
