I've been a die hard PRS fan since 2003 but came across a used 2010 MIJ Charvel So Cal at a local shop for $600 and fell in love with it. The neck is SOOO comfy and I'm back to loving the Floyd Rose. I just sold a CU24 and bought 2 more Charvels. My favorite is the 2018 So Cal with ebony board made in Mexico. Selling the DGT next and keeping the Tremonti as my only PRS.

Have you tried a DK24 yet? Would love to know how you think it stacks up to the San Dimas?

I have a PRS Custom 24 but I've become really interested in the Charvel Pro Mod DK24. I have small hands and while the PRS neck is pretty thin, I think I want something thinner, and I hear the Charvel has a very nice thin neck. I will definitely keep my PRS for when I'm in a bluesy/classic rock mood, but the Charvel seems like it would be a great value of a shred/metal guitar.

For the money, it’s Charvel. Both of the guitars are great, I would pick Charvel, it has monster tone.

Would have liked to see the comparison with PRS SE Floyd Rose. I have one and actually ordered a Charvel this afternoon. Can’t wait to hear it. Roasted maple neck.

$3000 guitar vs a $900 Guitar but love them both ( have a CU22 and just got a DK24! myself that I couldn’t resist). The PRS is clearly more beautifully crafted but when all is said and done you have metal, magnets and wood. We know we don’t spend all that money just for the sounds.

I went to the store to buy a PRS but ended up trying a few other guitars, I tried an Ibanez and realized I loved the Wizzard 3 neck so much I couldn't put it down. I found the PRS extremely nice, but I couldn't bond with it. The PRS neck just felt wrong for my hands. However, I wasn't digging the Ibanez look, I wanted something closer to a Strat, not something so pointy.

After this, I found a Charvel for the first time, it's like it was made for me. Modern, yet still more strat-like, it's got the Fender flare I love, but just so comfy and perfected.

My only issue is I found 3 Charvels I liked, this one, the So-Cal, and DK24. I’d love to buy all 3 but at the moment can only get one. I'm leaning toward the DK24 but I just don't know!! I'm stuck!! 😂

The pickups on the charvel are designed for shred. Super hot. Sounds like a different amp when you switch to the PRS.

That was fun. I’m a Charvel player myself, but I liked the tone of the PRS a bit more (my DC-2 is all mahogany without the maple cap like the PRS, but that same scale length of the San Dimas)

After playing a Charvel, I’ll never go back to prs. The playability of the Charvel necks are beyond anything prs could do. I love the tone of prs guitars, and the looks, but the playability is meant for slower music and I need the shred

I wanted to buy that exact same PRS but I would have to wait 6 months.. So I ordered a Charvel San Dimas purple metallic with ebony fretboard about a week ago.. Never played charvel before so I’m stoked to experience it! I mainly want to focus on shredding etc.. Seems like it wasn’t a bad decision. That faded whale blue PRS is still on my bucket list

I enjoy the sound of the PRS Custom 24 - but playing them is a different story - I can't get any love from the neck - it just feels wrong / uncomfortable. Love the Charvel's though.

Haha. I have 5 charvels for different tunnings. I just picked up that same Transparent Purple. It is discontinued. I stole it for 700.00
