Artificial Intelligence algorithms today are used by governments and public institutions to make many crucial decisions on our lives: from who gets better education and health care, to who goes to jail. They do so based on implicit definitions of values like “fair,” “right,” or “good,” whose social implications policy-makers have long avoided to understand and regulate. Deliberative Democracy tools offer the opportunity to allow all citizens to discuss and decide, together, the fundamental rules and values for a safer impact of AI in our society.
