This famous Turkish street food has been around since the 1500s from Ottoman times. Traditionally eaten as a snack or as part of breakfast but can be eaten any time of the day.
Ingredients For Simit (7 Simit)
500gr. flour + 2-3 tbsp extra if needed
1+1/4 cup water
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp dried yeast
For the molasses sauce:
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp molasses

My friends let me note couple of details here: After dividing the dough into 7, rest for about half an hour. Then Shape and rest 10-15 minutes. Dip into molasses mixture and sesame seeds. Stretch a bit and rest 20-25 more minutes on the tray and bake at 180C for about 25-30 minutes until Golden color 😊

In my trip to Greece, there was a vendor in front of my hotel selling this donut shape and covered with toasted sesame seeds, he sold two kinds, one more toasted and sweet than the other, sell for 50 cents at the time .that was the most amazing delicious thing I’ve ever had.
