SKYDIO r1 DRONE- ACTIVE TRACK OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE DRONE

Skydio launched their new offering to the the drone world with this new auto pilot follow me drone. It has 13 vision cameras and many app features. Will DJI follow with similar tech soon? I am sure they have it already.

Fascinated by this craft! It tracks cars too, now. I've been watching Peter's (NeverMindYourOwn) videos on this, and while it's not perfect, it's mighty good. But, oh, that $2500 price tag! That's the only thing stopping me! But: if that $2500 also got me half the energy of that featured person at the beginning of the video, it'd be a no-brainer!

The one question i have is how will this perform tracking group sports such as a cycling peloton or a running group?

So far I have seen it tracking one subject and it’s doing that very very precisely. Wow 🙌🏽

Its amazing that im considering buying this drone. No changing parameters in camera setting? no physical controller (other than virtual controls on a phone)? I would say give up! Dji has you beat! But!!!!

But the amount of tech that has gone into this drone when it comes to tracking and obstacle avoidance is far superior to any Dji drone(by far). I currently own 3 mavics and the inspire2. I still hesitant flaying it low between trees. When it comes video quality and reliability im still with Dji. That being said the R1 is changing the game with this system. I hope that skydio sticks with their vision in drones because they would legitimately be the only competitor to dji when it comes to commercial drones.

Almost useless.
1. It uses phone and wifi as remoter, this is terrible. Poor feedback.
2. Big and heavy, compared with Mavic Pro or Mavic Air.
3. There are 13 vision cameras, but none is good camera. The image quality is poor.
4. The gimbal is terrible. Not stable at all.
5. Crazy price of $2, 500 USD. You can get much more features and much better image quality with much lower price from Mavic Pro or Mavic Air.
