This recipe is AMAZING! I made it yesterday. My husband (who is Greek by the way) loved it and asked if I could make it again around Christmas when his parents will come to visit us from Thessaloniki <3 Thanks Akis! More Greek recipes pleeeease

Portokalopita (Greek orange cake) is truly amazing. I have my own special recipe version that I carry from a Greek grandmother. It's so good that people in my family, outside family, friends, many people in my work environment are still asking to make it, or asking me if my birthday comes soon :D. One of my most prized recipes. Love Greek cuisine. Not only truly delicious, but so diverse and filled with secrets.

Lovely!!! Sure is Great! I love Spanakopita and all kinds of Greek Pies with Cheese!!! I love the way how Greeks eat salad with cheese on top before lunch!!! I was eating these at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto!!!

I first tried this cake in Greece and loved it. Was sursprised to find that it was made with filo pastry! This is such a good recipe and everyone loved it. Cake turned out really moist and just like the one I had in Greece. I reduced sugar in both the syrup and cake as I usually prefer my dessert less sweet. I reduced the sugar in the syrup by half and would still consider it a sweet dessert. Also, I recommend piercing the cake(found this tip in other recipes) to help the syrup soak through the cake.

This recipe has become my siganture dessert, for the decoration i add orange slices on the top before putting in the oven, and I cook for 1h-1h20. The oranges on the top get some colour and look fantastic. I also use half the sugar and its still sweet!

I are Portokalopita every day when we visited Greece in Mykonos, Crete and Santorini and after making Akis recipe last night this tasted on par if not better than what i was eating in the aforementioned islands. I will be making this again to share with friends. @Akis Petrezikis keep up the great work.

Oh my goodness!! I can't wait to try this!! Pity that they haven't imported till now in Romania our favourite oranges, of course those from Greece!!

oooh I discovered this cake last week in Naxos on holiday. And had it almost every day - totally addicted. I couldn't work out the unusual texture - would never have guessed that it's basically a custard with dehydrated file crumbs in it.

My man, I love the look of your food and your teaching style. You've got some real personality, as well as an undeniable flair for cookery. Actually, I have some Greek blood in me too (my family, on my grandfather's side, is from the southern portion of Cyprus), and learning to make some of the Greek classics is one way for me to familiarise myself with my roots again. For me, your recipe here is amongst your most mouth-watering, and one thing's for sure, I'm gonna be noshing on it real soon! Thank you for all your efforts, for bringing Greek cuisine to a wider audience, and for inspiring people like me to feel more integrated.
