Love the exercises and focusing on relaxing everything, especially that shoulder. Straight bow, hearing the difference closer to the bridge in the upper positions. It's been a good practice.

All the violin videos are played the same way.100%!!! LOUD! Very frustrating. We don't always play loud in orchestra. You draw the bow across the G string, and the others, LOUD. My issue is the G string NOT SOUNDING when I have to play very softly. Only when played SOFTLY. You do play softer at the 6:35 mark. My violin would not do that well. There are passages in Symphony's that require very soft, moody, passages and my G string will NOT do that. As I draw the bow across, the sound will SKIP. If I lean down a bit more, the sounds are TOO LOUD.

I change the strings, I clean the strings, I wash my hands, I don't over rosin the bow, yet nothing stops the skipping. I'd love to hear a video of very SOFTLY violin playing on the G string. I can't find one.

Hello Heather!
I have a question: I have just recently done a 28 day challenge to get rid of tension and I think I've gotten better😅 I do struggle with a clear tone on the D and G strings. I know you need to have enough pressure in the fingers playing the notes but I'm worried that it'll go back to tension if I do, so if I make sure I increase my finger weight/pressure on the string but keep my thumb relaxed is that ok? Hope that makes sense😅

If one does all you say to do and playing notes, 1st position on G string still sounds odd, could there be an issue with the bass bar or sound post inside the violin? I have tried different string types from steel core to synthetic core and my G open string sounds beautiful but when playing notes on it in first position to my ear sounds kind of airy. My violin is fairly new, a Franke Henner, not all that expensive. Notes on the G string do sound better when I put much more bow pressure on the string. Notes on it sound terrible just bowing with the weight of the bow. (warning: I am new to violin).
