Background "music" was like a mosquito buzzing in my ear. Ditch it and concentrate of what is important....the information you're trying to impart to us.

So sorry, can't listen to new information and obnoxious "music" in the background at the same time. Wish people would learn...

Hi. Thanks for the video. Great reviews. Just confused in the order. Were you going from best to worse or worse to best? Thanks again.

@ 3:00 it's not panasonic 2500 but Nikon P1000 / 125x zoom gave it away

What about the new p950? I've got the p1000 and was thinking of getting a p900 to convert into a infrared camera but not sure wether I should look at the p950 instead?? What do you think?

Looks like you started with the best(and newest cameras) and counted down to the lower spec cameras.Bit confusing.

Shocked the Panasonic fz300 is not on here. Smokes all but the top couple on this list.

Mine is the Sony RX10M4. I own one for 1, 5 year now (after owning the RX10M3 for the same amount of time) and took it everywhere with me. Litteraly everywhere as the camera gets carried in my backpack ALL the time. I have it with me wherever I go, so I've been shooting and filming from the seaside (originating from the region of Bordeaux, France) to around 3000 meters of altitude (in the Pyrénées).
Even though the purchase was meant for keeping me busy during illness, I managed to sell dozens of photographs and two films. It tells a lot about the camera's overall quality. Last update gave it real-time eye AF on humans and animals + better electronic IS (to complement the great optical one) + improved image processing... turning it into a near generation 5 model. Absolutely NO other camera listed in your review can equal the RX10M4 AF system, nor even hope to !
I used to have a 12 kg camera bag (being a pro free-lance photo-reporter for 4 years, as a first step into media business), but this camera offers me more than my bag content (2 bodies + 5 lenses + 1 flash + 1 8-pack-AA-batteries grip + filter, etc.). To my RX10M4 I added a macro front element, so I can get as close as 20 cm with the lens set from 35 to 600 mm position... you can imagine the magnification (with a great optical quality) I get from this combination ! And a variable ND filter for filming with a wide settings range to choose from.
What if I had to pick only one camera ? For me, the answer is simple : a camera I could take with me, permanently, on What can I achieve with mine ? Just this exact thing : taking it everywhere. And (you can trust me), I've never ever seen any other photographer to my side or surroundings shooting with their 400 or 500 or 600 mm lenses... never ! Why ? Because, if I can carry my 1, 2 kg camera everywhere and for hours/kilometers, no one is able to carry 12 kg of gear for the same time/distance.
THAT is a do-it-all camera, a camera going everywhere you go.
Other good sides...
- no dust gets inside the camera, never.
- it is an imaging "Swiss knife", as good in video as it is in photography.
- almost every function can be set to personal preference, and the array of adjustments has been widened compare to the (already great) RX10M3.
- despite very rich menus, the camera offers a dozen of customisable buttons + a single-click quick-access set of functions + a multi-page menu for favorite functions.
- video is on a broadcast-quality level : confirmed by many directors of photography I work with, including one (and a good friend of mine) who became a Sony tech-teacher some 4 years ago (the kind of guy who knows how cameras work, and leads camera master-classes). Two TV channels reached out to me for asking sequences about events where none of their tech-crews where, and image integration was done with no flaw nor headache.
- all functions and specs are share by all Sony cameras of the Alpha type, so I can use ALL peripheral accessories created for A7s, A9s, A6xxx, etc. such as microphones, remote controls, applications, power stations, etc.
- recently purchased a versatile multi-size cage, to turn my camera into a easier-to-carry video tool... and boy does it work !!!
- all the money saved (camera price = 1600 to 1700 USD) was used to travel and buy enough gear to build a whole system around it. And when comes the time to change camera, most of the gear shall still be usable and efficient.
- camera looks serious (useful in some situations), but not huge... so doesn't scare people around, like a FF + 70-200 (or 100-400) mm would.
- it has a USB rechargeable battery interface.
- it can shoot stills while filming videos.
- it has all S-logs and PP necessary for pro-level editing and color-grading (tried, tested, confirmed).
- it never over-heats, never.
- battery life got vastly improved compared to RX10M3 (up to some 400 shots per charge), batteries are tiny and inexpensive (hi-Q 3rd-party ones for 30 USD a pair), camera can be powered through many ways (USB port, dummy battery, dual-battery add-on pack, etc.).
- etc. etc.

So... what else can you ask for, and is this camera an all-round/travel/versatile camera ? I'll let you decide.
After trying, for real, many other cameras (Panasonic FZs, "Pana-like" Leicas, toy-esque Canons, crappy Nikons), and taking the Sony for a test through DxO optical/electronical screening process, the choice was obvious.
And, for some strange reasons, you rank the Sony RX10M4 in 10th place (with the RX10M3 being 7th) !!! I'd like to understand... but just can't.

After watching the video I am more confused as to which to purchase lol. Prior I was convinced the Nikon P1000 was the one to get but now I am not sure.
I am a birder. Both small song birds and birds of prey in flight. I do like to crop and print enlarged to frame.
Which would be the best for me? That high zoom? I need a good quick focus. Ability to track as well.
ThAt is what is high on my list.
As a secondary, On another video it mentions “taking photo and focusing later”. I am interested in this. And taking slow motion video would be cool too. Which models would be best for my primary purpose and which with my secondary list?
Thanks

So... these are in order of least to best? I’m just a tad confused as to why the fz70 is better than the fz80 and there’s not enough description on why the no.1 beats out the p1000 or even why no.1 is better than the #10 or #9. I’m only complaining because I think there’s a lot of good information here and would like to know more on the bridge camera and not that price = better quality but a camera you can find for $240 beats out one that is over 800.

Where on the list would you put the panasonic fz300 ?

Thanks for the great and informational video. I'm an ex wildlife 35mm photographer, and had won lots of awards before my kids were born 29 years ago, and now have time to get back to photography. I had 400 f4, 300 f2.8, 80-200 f2.8 and loads more gear back then. I'm just getting my feet wet with digital gear, and don't want to go the DSLR route, as my wife and I are full-time musicians, (Jill & Kevin) and on the road full time in our travel trailer, so limited space. I've already ordered a new FZ80, but still learned a lot from your video. Thanks!!!

You missed the nikon p950, where do you think that would rank? Its better than the p1000 and p900, so would be interested to find out if it would be better again than your number 1 Sony :)

It seems to me that #10 is the best camera and #1 the most limited, as if the order should be reversed. You say the P900 has the biggest zoom, then the P1000 has more. It is hard to trust this simplified and contradictory review.

I tried the FZ80 but returned it, the zoom quality was not what I was hoping it would be... it was very similar to the old FZ200 I already have and was looking to upgrade.

The Canon SX70 does have eye sensor to switch from back screen, 4K vid and time lapse. I admire these type of comparison vids. but I wish they would get things right. And that music!!!! We dont need it.

I need least weight but most are pretty heavy .Wish you had given the weight of each if only printed on the video ....Sony Cyber Shot RX10 1V looks good .I do mainly video and wild life ...No go touch screen as an accident means cannot use such ..+ have seen some messy screens ...Enjoyable list Thanks a lot

Thanks for this great video.

Bridge cameras are really important... you have #DSLR and #Mirrorless features in a body with fixed lens.

I/2.3" sensor vs 1" sensor:
- I really think Camera companies that are still have compact cameras within their lines should a least offer product starting with a 1" sensor. (1", MFT, 1.5", APSC, FF)
- 1" sensor should shut down the false debate if yes or no smartphones are better than digital cameras.
Smartphones offer fast connectivity, accessibility, or certain freedoms but they cannot replace devices dedicated to take photographs: Digital Cameras.
- I understand the 1/2.3" sensor for the #P950: a compromise between focal range and body size. But no excuse for not having a touchscreen and 20MP?
- Ok for other 1/2.3" sensor specialized cameras like: Ricoh WG series, Olympus Tough, Fuji FinePix...

My hope is...
#Canon #Powershot #G3XMII : 4k, built-in EVF, a body like the EOS RP with fixed lens. The EOS RP is not bigger than the RX10MIV.

#Nikon #Coolpix 1" sensor: Nikon should probably bring back a bridge 1" sensor capable to rival a future RX10MV. The DL24-500 had amazing specs. #Nikon can do this and have experiences, consumers feedbacks for the cancelled DL series and the discontinued Nikon 1 CX sensor.

#Sony #Cybershot #RX10MV: the king of bridge superzoom cameras. A fully touchscreen for focusing and menu...

#Panasonic #Lumix #FZ2500MII / #FZ2000MII: a popular bridge... a GH5 or GH6 with fixed lens...

Thanks.
