Thank you for the video. I started learning SQL and it is a little more complicated than I thought. But this video reinforced that I should stick to it in order to enter the IT field. It's like an advice from a mentor.

Thank you for commenting on this question. I was wondering if I should start with SQL which is used at work and need it to get more insight of the systems. There are too many things around and was not sure if or how to start. Thanks again!

Relational databases aren't so named because of relationships between tables - this is totally wrong. They are relational because they are based on relational calculus.

Hey stefan, just looked at w3tech and php got market share of 82.3.. Holy crap... People call php junk and yet its rising... And also JavaScript topped python as server side language... Wow.. Php and javaScript were built for the web...

Should one also learn database design? Is this important or is jumping into SQL good enough.

Hi! So I am just recently finished an online course for Microsoft SQL server. However, I am new to the IT field. Would you say that I need to learn some of the program languages such as PHP, Python etc. before attempting the certification courses for SQL server Development?

Hi!

I just have 2 questions regarding MS SQL Developer Edition.

I downloaded SQL Server Dev. edition and Visual Studio Comunity edition for learning purposes.

I am creating a windows app using C# and would like to connect it to a database of SQL server developer edition as backend.

Is that allowed as long as I don't use it for commercial purposes?

My other question is If I create a database in SQL Server Developer edition is it allowed for the database to be exported (extracted) and imported in SQL Server Express edition for commercial use?

Thank you in advance! Cheers!

Hi, I trying to build this offline web application that stores subject notes pertaining to different subjects, sort of like a library app. I want to be able store all this information in a database to make it easy to search for and manage. Where do I start ? Can I just build a database with MySQL and connect it to my appliction? Do I need to learn PHP if its an offline application? Any advice would be of great assistance.

Is there an online free course like codeschool that builds heavily on challanges and have them for designing er diagrams. For me er-diagrams are very hard to learn and I get often stuck with a why when if it is obvious for others. Like why is Table A related to Table B when I feel it should be Table C instead.

Is it a good idea to learn mongodb? I know there are some good projects going on in mongo, but still there are too many web apps that use sql and that's where I guess most of the jobs are. I'd like to know what are your thouts about that.
