I was diagnosed with jaundice a month ago, and my LFT result was a nighrmare, Total bilirubin was at 3.88 mg/dl, ALT (sgpt) was 3300> U/L, AST(sgot) was 906, ALP was 128, and gamma GT 196, I was infected by hepatitis A through contaminated water. I followed a strict diet. No fried food, no cooking oil, no spices at all, little to no salt, no meat at all. Only fruits and raw vegetables like cucumber, carrot, onions and tomato. Boiled egg in breakfast with white or bran bread and tea, boiled chickpeas, boiled rice with legumes/lentils or yogurt in lunch and dinner and before bed a half glass of non fatty milk. But most of all my doctor told me to be hydrated, with plenty of glucon D oral solution and hepamerz syrup thrice a day. So after 27 days I again took a Liver functioning test and here are my results

Total Bilirubin 0.63 mg/dl
ALT 48 U/L
AST 38
ALP 78
GGT 39
Hope my recovery journey will help someone

For me, my higher than normal liver function tests revealed a silent problem that was going on. My ALT and AST started getting out of range growing higher each year (Over a three year period by the lab work results). My ALT hit 153 and AST was 88. ALT by the chart was over 113 past normal and AST was 40 points over. So what was causing my Liver to start hitting the panic button??? Well, an ultrasound of the liver showed the Renal Cell Carcinoma that was growing on my right kidney. MRI showed the tumor growing on my left kidney. From what I have read, the ALT enzyme reacts when the RCC gets into the renal artery. Well, two surgeries later, loss of right kidney and a piece of my left my numbers are back in range. I was in good shape, non-drinker, non-smoker, exercised everyday. If your numbers are getting out of whack and your Dr's tell you to stop eating fast food (That's what the dude told me, turned out to be Cancer) just make sure to keep looking at the problem. My bad Liver Function tests saved my life because I kept trying to find out why it was bad and I indeed found out why.

Like everyone else here is saying - this is an amazingly digestible breakdown of liver enzyme analysis. I actually feel like I have some rough idea of how to interpret values now. Thank you!

Excellent. Was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and treated most of last year. Turned out to be an infected gall bladder.

All I can say is WOW!
I could not understand these enzymes any better.
I like the fact that you started by highlighting where each one of them is found and that made it very easy to Interpret the results.
Im officially your subscriber from now.

Mine was due to alpha1antitrypsin deficiency! I think everyone with the high levels should be checked for this today! It’s not an expensive test and needs an early diagnosis when possible🙏

Hight GGT only is : Auto brewery syndrome is also known as gut fermentation syndrome and endogenous ethanol fermentation. It's sometimes called “drunkenness disease.” This rare condition makes you intoxicated — drunk — without drinking alcohol. This happens when your body turns sugary and starchy foods (carbohydrates) into alcohol.
