👋 In todays review we take a look at the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan! This is the SEL trim level with the R-line package! For right around $40K, this is a very nice SUV that has a lot to offer! From all the technology, to the comfortable ride and the amount of space, it's hard to not like what's available! The exterior on this model has a great look and color! The exterior lines are very similar to that of it's sister company Audi, along with most of the interior components! The interior has a nice design to it and great materials! The technology is easy to use and laid out well! Over the week that I had this 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan, I thought it was a very nice SUV to be in. After a few hours of driving, it's a little stiff feeling. I wish the seats were a bit longer under my knees, but that's a personal preference. It's a quiet driving SUV on the highway and smooth too! Overall, for the price, you have a great SUV option to go with and if you are looking at an Audi, but want something that is a bit cheaper in price, the Volkswagen is the answer to that question!

In Europe, we get a more powerful Tiguan, the Tiguan R.
It has 315hp and 310lbft of torque, turning the four wheels via a 7DCT. 0-62 takes 4.9 seconds.

It’s quite a shame you don’t get the Tiguan R in the states. Well, considering that the Tiguan R is based on the European spec Tiguan, it’s sadly not sold there. I think Volkswagen should make an R model exclusive to the Americas, either a Taos R using the same engine as the T-Roc R (2.0 TSI 296hp / 295lbft) or a Tiguan R based on the US-spec Tiguan.

5 Star 🌟 review. I'll just add. That the touchscreen is also operated by hand motion. Swipe your hand left or right in front of the screen. To turn to next or previous page. Also I heard to get a more robust Tiguan. You have to shop Audi for the Q3. Fun fact I also heard from a Volkswagen car salesman. That the Q3 powertrain is the Tiguan R. Tiguan R that is only sold in Europe. But in the States as the Audi Q3. Allegedly. 😊

I really love the looks of this trim of the Tiguan. Really a well balanced and clean design. If only it had a few more horses! Guess the folks at Audi won't allow it. Atlantic Blue Sel R FTW!

I have a 2022 VW Tiguan SEL R-Line, and I must say that I don't see much of a difference with the 2023 line. It's like I have the same exact car! (I actually like that, though. 😊) One of the reasons why I went with VW is because they do not change the body of their vehicles much compared to other brands.

Anyhow, this was a really great review! I was reminded of the different amenities that my 2022 can do. 😊

I wish they’d give any R line product, R type of power. Like the Golf R. 6:42 they dropped the touch sensitive lock pad to an actual button?

I love this spec and everything else about it!! Only problem is it’s powertrain is so underpowered even if they bumped it up to 250hp like the mazda cx30 and cx5

How is it the Jetta SE gets rear heated seats but Tiguan SEL R does not ? ALso paddle shifters would be nice for a R trim. And they restrict you now where you cant get 7 seats with AWD, only one or the other. I considered it but for above reasons will now look to Mazda 3.3 Turbo instead.

I love the look of these but it really needs more power. I’m not paying 40k for 180hp

Apr tuning will give it 260+ horses for arround 400$ or less... no parts needed

Of course the $48, 000 you're referring to is not for compact SUV's which the Tiguan is. The Tiguan is near the top end for compact SUV's.

I wanna see the rear yellow turn signals on the Tiguan! Does it have a rear fog light? Yellow rear turn signals are a lot safer than red.

I get between 26-31 on the highway with my Atlas front drive with the 2.0.
I sure don't get the supposed advantage of efficiency with the Buddack engine.
I get the lower power though that's why it takes 9 seconds or more to hit 60.
That is slow, with the regular 2.0 you would get sub 7 sec (0-60).
My Atlas could beat this towing a boat.

I don't think 162 mph for the US just the EU. But I do know it will do 114 without a problem.

I do think that the newer VW's are nice looking rides, but thats all I don't buy them for the fact that there not as reliable and dependable as the past. I know because 3 different people had VW'S and they won't nothing but problems. They look great.. but there not for me. And I will say all new cars today probably will have some type of issue with it's electronics sensors because of all the computer stuff on them no adays. I have always been a Honda and Toyota guy.
