This particular fish was so fun. I hooked her (or one of her friends) on back to back casts drifting a redworm into the topside of the tree you guys have seen me fish at many times. Whenever we go to this particular creek, it is a spot that is right by the parking lot and definitely one of the biggest community holes on the river. I know I don't show off any more of the creek, as the trout fishing community is really hard on creators showing off fisheries so I really only stick showing this spot on YouTube.

Back to the bait... so in the fall an often overlooked technique when fishing is really tough is the redworm. I've found on windy, rainy days when storms are just over the horizon, often times they will smash the worm when they won't eat anything else!! And on this day, they were on the worm hard!!!

The Shimano Technium Centerpin Rod fit the bill for this situation perfectly. It's rated for 6-12lb line. It's got a stinking ton of power. However, it's much lighter in hand than anything else I have ever seen at or around a $189 price-point and it's delicate tip section is exactly what you need for accurate casts around wood as you can see from this shot. This rod is built absolutely perfect for Great Lakes tributaries and it's performance exceeds that of anything I know of on the market that's under $300.

If you know someone that is trying to get into centerpin fishing and is looking for a 13' rod, this should be the first one they try!!!

The EPIC CATCH series is brought to you by BKK Hooks. This EPIC Catch was landed on the BKK Allrounder-SS size 4. I was running two 10mm beads. One about two inches above the hook and pegged it to my line with a NOVA Pro bead peg. The second was about two or two and a half inches above the first. The 10mm beads from SteelyBeads are definitely a go to for me in water that is even a little bit turbid like what we experienced this trip.

Very annoying music in an otherwise fun good video. I'm sure I speak for most outdoorsmen saying we'd rather hear the sounds of the fishing than headbanging. Your video, your choice, just something to consider.
