As an avid MCC community member, I would like to add that while the MCC subreddit is by far the most knowledgeable place you can find about the tournament, with *some people* spending hours collecting data and creating spreadsheets on the games, not all advice is good advice. It's not a hive-mind, some people will give better advice than others. On top of that, you're essentially never going to see someone with experience giving advice over there, since testers have strict rules and even the most active participants generally only leave comments that aren't very serious. So take advice with a grain of salt; it's all from watching, not playing.

Something that seems common for new players is to get recommended to VOD review things that are just out of their depth. For example, Dream's sandkeeper performance MCC All Stars is hands down the best ever, and has been recommended to sandkeepers quite a few times. However, the most likely outcome of attempting to play your first SOT that way is a full team lock-in. Same for Ace Race; Illumina is incredible at getting the maximum distance out of his trident, but not a single other participant is even slightly consistent at doing the same and trying to replicate that will likely not lead to success. *Try to watch VODs that will actually help you*. Sometimes those are the best game performances, sometimes they're not. Watching fails can be just as helpful as a "what not to do."

Very well summarized. I get it that it might be overwhelming and you may feel anxious and stressed out about this big event, but you should feel relaxed, be yourself, and most importantly practice. Get a good sleep before the event, if that means waking up to a lunch, so be it.
