“Just get 2 clients that pay $2.5k and you’ve done it.” I can’t believe I needed to hear this. Thanks for making me feel like an idiot.

Game-changing mindset for me: _"You don't need to know everything, you just need to know more than your client does."_

That is, you don't need to be a "master" at something to be of value. People **will** accept your offers for no greater reason than because they don't know how to model (or whatever) themselves. That's the service you provide, and there is a lot of money to be made through it.

Put another way: At the end of the day, your mechanic doesn't need to be the "best in the world" if he can fix your car regardless.

Investing in ourselves and our skills, in any field really, is honestly the biggest hack we can do!

As a person who did 3d for 10 years, guys don't, the architects soon will have ais painting houses and interiors for them, gamedev sucks and at your full time jobs, your managers will constantly be getting emails to ousource your work for 1/5 of what they pay you, in addition to that asian countries keep mass producing penny cheap 3d freelancers

This video has really opened my eyes, I feel like you were speaking my life inba few minutes. I have been procrastinating far too long! Like you mentioned I don't have to be the best as long as I can provide good customer service and quality work.

Thank you for this video, I feel really encourged and its the words that I had to hear!

I can land jobs that are 5k, problem is the projects always end up going over the scheduled time and I’m afraid to take on more work due to the complexity of the project. I’ve been in situations where I’ve got a project that’s started and I’m doing ‘can you just’ amends on 2 others, and obviously 3D can be days of rendering it’s not quick change > export like say a graphic designer. 1 amend can affect several scenes meaning days/weeks of rendering. It’s never something wrong it’s usually a case of too many cooks on the client side as I always do storyboard/animatics. Usually ends up with me having to pull nightshifts just to please everyone!

Great video. I was wondering, what kind of 3D services can be provided on a monthly basis to local studios? Most of what I've experienced were fixed-priced commissions to adjust what they already have produced or perhaps materials for a new product, but then it will end there.

It's time to change my mindset. I'm from the country where 1k$ a month is huge. Most of the people don't even get 300$

QUESTION: I posted on both artstation and imgur ... my journey of learning blender, and posted the renders. I was thinking I could show how I was improving.
my professional friend told me to delete that "trash" and that artstation should only have renders of things i spent months on one render making.
so now I have nothing on artstation.
but listening to you, I think i should not have listened to him.

you say "you just need to find people who are willing to pay you X" - this is what im struggling with right now. where should i look? is there a right way to look? how do i approach them once I've found them? sometimes i think im sounding TOO sure, other times i feel like im not sure enough. I dont doubt my skill or ability as I know if theres something i cant do, ill learn how to do it. but i still cant seem to find the best way of actually reaching out. Im posting on socials, linkedin, behance, but still nothing. thanks for the vid btw

I was making 34k/year just recently and I managed to save 30k in two years. I live in Chicago, if I was making 60k I would be pretty good with that.

I didn't get the opportunity to finish my mentorship training with Arthur but for the little time I was there, I learnt a lot about marketing and I still practice them. They've been really helpful and I look forward to coming back soon.

Buying a new computer to keep up with all the latest updates is already a large investment.
