Kinman Zero-Hum Broadcaster Gen-2 Pickups

"This set is comprised of AVn-48b & AVn-48n Gen-2 singles. ...This set has authentic single coil high end cut and growls more than the twangy 60's Custom set. The excellent dynamic range will delight Tele players who want powerful punch. The middle position of the selector switch produces an intense cluck that some players have said is "to die for"."

The website gives us all sorts of useful information and tips and tricks. I won't quote it all here. But I will say that these pickups have the punch, brightness and not-too-ice-picky tone that I have sought for this type of guitar for a long time. So they're staying for the long term. Check out Chris's website for more info.

That set sounds great!

I just got a Fralin Hot Split-Rail bridge pickup for my red ash Tele, to go along with a Duncan Jazz HB neck pickup and a Lawrence L202TN in the middle spot, with custom 5-way wiring and a series/parallel on the Jazz. The Jazz in series mode and the Split-Rail are my Micawber. Makes you want to play Brown Sugar and Start Me Up....

That Magnatone is a great amp but have you ever thought to hook up that Mini Marshall double stack just for giggles?

Is the use of 250K pots a deliberate choice, or did they just happen to be what was in the guitar? Because Kinman's advice is for 500K pots for these two pickups.

It is great hearing them in a 'crunch' setting and I was impressed that the neck pickup seems to hold its own against the bridge with no drop in volume. However, personally, I would also have appreciated hearing them with a 'cooler' amp setting, to really hear the clean tones. There is a small passage in the middle where you roll the volume off to go clean, but then the pickups lose presence.

I have a Gen-1 AVN-48 in a custom Tele and I love it. And before that I had the AVn-60 set in another Tele, but they sound a little pale against the 48's. I have a new custom Thinline on the way and I think I am going to stick with Kinman and go for the Gen-2 at the bridge, but still not quite convinced with the neck 48. Thinking about putting a Strat Impersonator E56 or mini-humbucker in that spot.

And lastly, er ... what's all that about .. erm..."manly girth"?

Could a Fender CuNiFe WRHB be a good match with the Kinman Broadcaster for a Fender 72’ Reissue Tele?

Sounds great without sounding “icy-picky”

540 bucks is a lot of money for a pair of pickups 😳

Just installed a set in my tele. They sound pretty good. Just wondering why they used such small, flimsy, un-robust hook up wire on theses pickups? I mean, for the price… jeesh

Did you say that they're NOT coming out anytime soon?
