Wardens - Episode 4: Operation Snow Cat | Outdoor Documentary

In this episode:
Montana Game Wardens patrol the high country during winter with snow mobiles. It's also elk season, and the wardens check for compliance with hunting laws.

When your job is protecting our most precious natural resources in some of the nation’s most remote areas, there is rarely a dull moment. Wardens chronicles the lives of Conservation Officers in America. The show features the men and women who protect public lands, from ride-alongs on interstate game checks, to anti-poaching sting operations; from remote snowmobile trails in grizzly bear country, to unforgiving white-water rapids. While the focus of Wardens is enforcement of regulations, the show takes special precautions to ensure the general public understand those who would violate the rules are the minority and the vast majority of encounters with our Wardens are law-abiding citizens.

That goofy woman should not be hunting, should have tossed the book at them and loss of privileges for life. Pure carelessness.

It’s people like the older men in the Suburban that give the rest of us hunters a bad name.

I've always wanted to be a game warden. I love the outdoors and conservation of the land and animals for hunting.

These wardens are awesome. There not trying to just write situations. They are trying to educate sportsman. I’m sure we have all been there. A halibut just under size. Salmon out of season. It’s very easy to be tempted to do the wrong thing.

You bust people for having a beer, but you let that lady go, after shooting 5 elk. She should have been arrested. Those are the people that ruin it for everyone!!!!

I live in Tn and I get the hunting regs to in the mail. Here in Tn the state changes something about every year and I make sure I read what’s new for the hunting season before anything else.

Almost bought a house overlooking flathead lake a few years ago, but ended up deciding on Idaho due to some policies/laws… about 20 mins from the Montana border so I still get to check out the Zone 1 area (Glacier, paradise, plains, hot springs, etc.)

If this happened in Washington State.. they ALL would have been jacked up. Gear seized and huge fines... garrenteed

If this had been in VT and many states, these hunters would have been in serious trouble. They would have at least lost their license. That kid had no business being let loose with such limited experience. He didn't even know what it meant to pick up his brass. That lady said "I'm a terrible shot!" If you're unable to make a clean shot then you shouldn't take it. They just wanted to get her tags filled because her husband's was full. Look at what happens when you don't know what you're doing. The number they donate shows that this isn't a rare problem.

All these different permits and stamps are RIDICULOUS!

A big problem i have is when people shoot at a herd of elk killing or wounding many i think they need to be fined big time or even jail and take away hunting fishing rights for ever and even confiscate the animal.

I love how they keep saying at 10 below like that effects the shot

Too many permits and regulations in Montana. I'd be worried every time I went out that I had forgotten to get some kind of paperwork (and of course paid the appropriate fees).
