Hello friends well today's video turned into a rant...so if you're not after a rant here are the tips I basically said in the 17minute video (where I mostly complain about fast fashion and billionaires...)

1. Readjust your expectations of what you can achieve at home, and due to the fluctuating health of your mind.
2. Focus on food waste! Go through your cupboards and use everything you have before going to the supermarket.
3. Support small independent ethical and sustainable brands over fast fashion giants who's response to the pandemic has been APPALLING.
4. Listen to audiobooks on sustainability and climate change as reading can be really hard right now - documentaries and podcasts too!
5. Write down the things you're tempted to buy and take stock of how your habits have changed because of the lockdown etc.
6. Take care of yourselves xx

Leaving this comment for the algorithm because everybody needs to hear your rant about fast fashion 👏🏼

Things are super weird! I feel like the risk is getting lazy because the zero waste options aren't there anymore. Great video!

I work in fast food in the US. Not only are they not implementing social distancing (other than requiring masks, gloves, and plexiglass between staff and customers) THEY MORE THAN DOUBLED OUR STAFF. It only takes 8 people to run all of service..yesterday we had almost 20 people.... We are jam packed and our managers don't even know what to do with this many people. Not only does this fully go against the CDC guidelines I'm pretty sure it's a fire hazard or sanitary violation to have this many people.

One thing: the planet is benefitting a lot from all of us being stuck at home! I think that knowing this can help everyone cope with a) the situation in general and b) the fact that maybe you are not able to live as sustainably as usual

I love how you can talk about potentially controversial issues in a calm and measured way. Somebody sent me something, which I feel is relevant to this situation - in the rush to return to normal, use this time to decide which parts of normal are worth rushing back to. I think that this fits in very well with your video. Stay safe, and take care. Xx

I really needed this video now! Ranting can be positive too because it spurs us on to do better. Re. Fast fashion, why don’t people buy it secondhand? If you put ‘ASOS’ into EBay, and check the ‘used’ box under condition, there are loads of options. Big hugs, Immy. Oh, and a day of lockdown marriage equals a year of normal marriage, so if you have extra arguments, that’s why. :)

Where I live, EVERY SINGLE FOOD STORE started to wrap ALL the fruits and vegetables in plastic.
They put them in styrofoam food trays and then cover with plastic stretch film to "protect" them from covid19.
I feel so frustrated because a week ago I was able to find them without packaging very easily. It is just one of the things that I needed to vent. :(

Thanks so much for this video. Incredibly helpful. xx

Choice... I have had this luxury throughout my entire life but for the first time ever, I feel like some of my choices have been taken away from me. Oh, woe is me... I need to get over myself. I need to remind myself that habits, behaviours, and personal responses are still my choice. How lucky am I that during this time I can still choose to be happy and to use my mental energy to move forward with each day. Tbh... I had not thought about this until I watched this video. Thank-you Immy... you encourage me to think. Endless respect to

I'm so glad you spoke about the factories and warehouses are still open, I'm so annoyed about it! My partner works for the Royal Mail and they're having to deliver so many non essential products at the moment. Anyone ordering stuff online is putting people in warehouses and delivery people at risk, the amount of things posties need to touch in a day whilst unable to wash their hands for 5 hours at a time, it's worrying.

As someone with a disability I can not express how frustrating and dehumanising it is to see how quickly the government and businesses have implemented accessibility features such as the ability to work from home, telehealth services, income supplements, etc. that disabled people have been desperately requesting for years but every time we are given the same answer, 'It can't be done, it's to expensive, it's not necessary' but as soon as "normal" people need these things then it's a priority and then on top of all of that you have these fast fashion companies that are like 'hey that government assistance your now getting, here lets aim a sale at it, so you spend all your money on shit clothes and can't pay your bills.' It's insane. The thing that frustrates me even more is that I know once this is all over people will forget about all these things and go back to their able, consumerist lives and not think about any of the things that they learnt.

I love your channel because you are transparent, non-judgemental and don't assume everyone *can* live sustainably. Really love you for this!

pro tip: regarding audiobooks! If you use the platform LIBRO.FM they give 100% of the proceeds to INDEPENDENT bookstores outside of amazon and big chains, and this is a great way to help them out in this time <3

Hi Immy,

of course I can't say that I'm glad you were feeling down when you made this video, but I am very glad that you chose to share this with us so openly, because I think a lot of people can relate (at least I can). It is important to send out lots of positive vibes as much as we can right now, but you talking about your mood changes in this video was actually a huge relief to me personally, because it makes me think that I'm not the only one who goes through different and sometimes terrible moods, as well. And especially the positive note you ended on also shows that these bad moods will also pass, eventually.
So thanks for being so open and honest with your viewers. I appreciate your channel a lot. I hope you're doing as well as can be right now. Stay safe.

Mentally I am better some days than others. I'm a mental health worker, and right now I am not only trying to manage my own stress and anxieties, but those of the families I work with as well. It's been hard.

When the stay-at-home order came for my area I signed up for Imperfect Foods. I had been thinking about it for a while (since it is a way to help reduce food waste), but being in quarantine was an extra incentive for not waiting. It means that I can reduce even more the amount of time I may need to leave my home (so I'm staying safe) and I'm still making strides towards sustainability.

I really feel you! My mood and whole mindset switches within days st the moment. The last days I felt super-depressed (although I can be really happy in my situation with job, health etc.), unmotivated to do things, fall out of my workout routine, fell unsatisfied with myself and how I (not) use the actual time in a efficient way. I also really have to lower my expectations regarding sustainability while grocery shopping and have to focus on the positive things (thanks for reminding me); for example I haven’t shopped fast fashion in years (pretty much my whole wardrobe is thrifted), neither I will shop online. Often you forget what you already do right 🙈

I’m in Canada and am generally happy with how the gov’t is handling things. Even my premiere (Ontario) who made stark cuts to healthcare, etc is actually doing a lot of good work to recover those missteps and do the right thing (he’s conservative). One of the things I really support is the push for more Canadian-based production. I don’t support his politics but he’s doing more than I expected of him.

Personally, I’m an academic who’s only got another year of funding left in my PhD after this spring term. Students across Canada are advocating for extensions of programs and funding based on this crisis as many of us have our research halted or intensely slowed. (Mine is a hybrid) And that’s not even taking into effect how many people are affected emotionally, physically, or financially right now and unable to even think about their studies. I am very grateful to still have some money coming in (online teaching as part of my funding), but I’m equally scared and IMMENSELY aware of my privilege.

I’m taking stock of which brands are doing well and which I intend to avoid in the future. I boycotted Starbucks for a long time during this until they started actually treating their employees better. The only time I broke that boycott, I gave the staff a $20 tip on my $3.94 coffee.

Time will tell what this will do to our society and globally but I think you’re very right in paying attention, writing things down (because yes memory and brainpower are right now), and really focusing inward is the best way we can set up our future selves.

My comment also got long, sorry :P

Good morning from Italy! I love your channel and this video is realistic, important, empathic and calming. Thank you! We are in isolation since the beginning of march and the first three weeks are really tough. But in the next days we might see lots of openings and, mostly what I need, the opening of the libraries! Keep making your lovely video and keep up! I'm sending you a bit of italian sea perfume and lots of italian sun's warmth. Thank you for being the way you are.

this is the most soothing angry rant I've ever heard. thank you for sharing your thoughts. this whole thing feels so difficult to navigate, but knowing that other people are thinking the same way as I, and many others are, is really comforting
