Have to chime in. If you are at all able to get off of a highway/interstate do NOT ever stop on the side of the road. If you do have to stop pull off to the right, get out of the car on the passenger side and get WELL away from the vehicle and roadway to make your calls for assistance. I have been a death investigator for 16 years and I can't count the number of deaths we have investigated because someone remained in their car while waiting and got hit and killed while sitting in their car.
