ABOUT DR. BREWER
Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many preventable heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. While there, he went on the run the post-graduate training program (residency) in Preventive Medicine. From there, he made a career of practicing and managing preventive medicine and primary care clinics. His later role in this area was Chief Medical Officer for Premise, which has close to 1,000 primary care/prevention clinics. He was also the Chief Medical Officer for MDLIVE, the second largest telemedicine company. More recently, he founded PrevMed, a heart attack, and stroke prevention clinic.

At PrevMed, we focus on heart attack, stroke, and cognitive decline. We serve patients who have already experienced an event as well as those who have not developed a diagnosis or event. Dr. Brewer provides services via telemedicine or in person if you're in the Lexington, KY area. We find a lot of undiagnosed Pre-Diabetes or Insulin Resistance. Treating unrecognized risk factors like Pre-Diabetes allows reduction of risk and prevention of disease.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
How to understand your genome: Using 23andMe to learn your own genome. It's $99. But the FDA won't allow 23andMe to provide interpretations. So you have to know how to get into SNPedia to interpret this raw data.

Thank you very much for explaining how to look this up by your own.

Thank you sir! Very helpful! I've tried 23andme, but after 3 attempts, they could not read my DNA. I will try again soon. I noticed when I switched my diet to Keto, (Male, 36, 5'9) I went from 240 lbs to 185 lbs in nearly 7 months without the gym. I feel better than when I was in my 20's.

Thanks John for the unbiased opinion and information. As a sick veteran I recently took a test and I'm awaiting the raw data. I'm doing plenty of research to ensure that I don't get caught up in all the hype about any specific supplement for a specific SNP. I believe that they can be controlled by the supplements naturally, or by diet. However, there is a lot of hype on the internet that is just marketing too.

I will be sure to look into Dr. Brewer's videos, I believe what I am dealing with is a mycoplasma infection attacking mitochondria.

Hello John. Another informative video. I joined "23andme" a couple of years ago but only now requested a raw data download. Assuming the data will be released, where can I find a list of relevant genes to check (especially pertaining to cardiovascular disease, diet, etc.). You discussed one (APOE). And I don't mind paying a fee for data analysis. Can you recommend any such websites? Thanks again.

Where do you find a list of SNPs helpful to look into?

It's true, at present that we cannot change our genetics, but we do have some control over whether genes are expressed or repressed. My holistic MD told me years ago, that drinking 5 cups of green tea daily would probably repress any genetic predisposition to cancer. Also, probably by eating a plant based diet one will repress any genetic predisposition to CVD, stroke, cancer, etc.

Thank U so very much! Is there anyway that you could reveal the name of the "maybe" best place that crunches the raw data? Your best guess, would be better than my best guess! Maybe I should send the raw data 2two or three different places. Anyway, thanks so very much in advance!

Thank you for explaining! I am trying to see it for some genetic rare diseases that seems I have... I was thinking the it had to have the same exact position, so it doesn't matter the position? It only need to have the exact genotype?

I’m confused as to how your interpret a result. For example AHCY, I couldn’t find what is the normal ? G/G ? And how do I find the normals for other ones ?

Hi John, I would like to understand my Apo(e) type, whether it is E2, E3 or E4. I came across your VDO which was very helpful and did have a look at the 23andMe website, however it was a bit confusing to me. You were talking about a 99$ fee for their service, but on the website they provide two options, i.e.: Health + Ancestry Service for 199$ and Ancestry Service only for 99$. Could you please help me explain which of the two services I should order for my purpose? Also their example reports look different then the way you explained how you need to interpret the results. I appreciate your help on this. Thanks a lot!

Hi, So is 23andMe raw data pretty accurate? I've recently paid over a few hundred dollars for a Pro7 Nutrigenomics gene test and wonder if I simply overpaid for an interpretation service as to quality lab work for accurate SNPs?
