I'd Rather Be Free (Escapism Cover) - Steven Universe

Escapism has been a well beloved song in Steven Universe before it even aired in an episode and before we even knew who was officially going to sing it! Wasn’t it a treat to have Rebecca Sugar’s performance of it early on?

I dragged my heels a bit on this one, as there have been so many other fabulous covers of this particular song out there… I had considered skipping it. I even made a casual a cappella cover on my IGTV a while back thinking that would be it. But I just love this gorgeous song so much, I figured I might as well make my own version, especially now that the episode has aired and I have learned to play a little Ukulele now.

I hope you don’t mind this being more of a casual cover, having a simple arrangement and filmed on the couch. I feel that this song’s beauty shines the most when kept uncomplicated.
