No sorry apparently the manufacturers intended this to be a "multimedia mouse" so the buttons are only meant for forward and back in your web browser, which surprisingly is really practical, but not any use in games

that minecraft 1.7 is out, there is a dedicated sprint button. So with the mouse you can assign one of the two side buttons as a sprint, and it fits perfectly where my thumb is. So minecraft survival games sprinting is great!!!

also I'm changing the video title because it's misleading, when i ordered the mouse it said gaming mouse so i stuck with that, and the DPI and shape are REALLY good for games so if you don't need programmable buttons it is worth the $15 bucks.

I have found that some games that let you pick the key/button by clicking them do, but there is no software with the mouse itself to do it.
