An amazing runner who put the flag of Namibia in an Olympic podium for the first time. Their country people must certainly look up to him

I'm a white orthodox dude from Serbia and Frankie was an absolute icon to me. I cried when he didn't get a gold medal in Atlanta 96. Class knows no bounds, , for sure

In Zimbabwe, we always celebrated FF cause he was often our only representation of Africa at many of the big meets. A true class act and a gentleman's gentleman.

Now Christine MBOMA is walking in his footsteps

I was in my teens when Frankie was running. I was always cheering for him but he was destined to be on second place. Such a gentleman and always so positive in interviews

woooow!!! instead of you all celebrating the great achievements of this great man, you all belittle him, because he won more silvers than golds? really, i am a namibian and i must first point out that i am really hurt by all your lack of respect to mr fredericks. He is a true gentleman, he always conducts himself in a polite, humble and respectable way, even here at home, he is the best thing that happened to our country, in terms of sport. To hear you all tear his good name and reputation down like that is pitiful. He is an IOC council member now . these are all titles he served on:
Member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Athletes’ Commission; Member of the Namibian National Olympic Committee Executive Committee; Member of the Athlete Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) (2009-2014). I would never dare to utter a word of disrespect to someone like merlene ottey, even if she is the bronze queen, all her medals mean a lot to the jamaican people, not because she won them, but because those medals paved the way for athletes like usain bolt, asafa powell, veronica campbell brown and shelly ann fraser pryse, to perform and they showed all jamaicans that they can do anything. That is what those silver medals of frank mean to us, they show that we too can do great things, even if we are a small country, with very little to our credit.
THAT MAN IS A GENTLEMAN, YOU CAN GOOGLE HIM AND YOU WILL NOT READ ANYTHING ABOUT, SCANDALS, DOPING OR ALL THOSE OTHER THINGS THAT TAINT THE NAMES OF OUR GOOD ATHLETES.
if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

I loved watching this man run. He truly flew the flag for his small nation. Bolt may be the greatest to ever do it, but Fredericks did it with the most grace.

Fredericks has been One of the best sprinter in the 90s... He is really a true gentleman... Not because he allowed other athletes to defeat him... he was unlucky...
Christie was doped...
Bailey did life race...
Johnson was the best...
Frankie remains an African Legend, a Namibian Legend, a World Legend for everyone loves track & field!!!!

Namibia has runners that were in medal conversation for Tokyo but the IOC saw it fit to ban them from running in their specialty event because it’s better to police women’s bodies than let them run.
