There is so much to heat treating and then tempering the steel. It’s magic. To harden but then relax it just enough to take the brittleness out of it. This is one of the best useful videos that I’ve seen in a long time. Pops knife supply is the best.

Hey Jason! Thanks for being so willing to help others! You're always straight forward and I have adopted 80CRV2 is the minimum steel I will use from now on. Your contributions have a wide spread positive impact on the industry.

Jason your an Excellent Master Blade smith Rock on Brother. I’m an intermediate blade maker no where the level that you are! I was a Paramedic for 35 yrs in the inter-city. When I retired I was always a knife collector, but I said to myself “What Hell am I going to do with myself for 12hrs a day”
Now mine you I was in a horrible ambulance in “98” and it took them 20 min’s to cut me out broken back 3 major back surgeries last on the fused my entire lumbar spine in pain 24/7 but I refuse to lay down and feel sorry for myself! Served in both US Marine Corps then recruited into the US Army because I had special skills. So as a knife maker I’m I learned from U-Tube ie., John Kaiser vids.
Great Vid’s!!! Question I normalize the blade one time and then let cool by the Air. Then I heat tx the 80crv2 in my oven @ 1525 degrees hold for 15minutes what else needs to be done?

The "magic" that separates the amateurs from the pros. No doubt, Jason knows his business. Glad you guys got to share together.

Great video and a way for a novice to get introduced into quite a heavy fundamental.

What’s the deal with not showing or mentioning it’s necessary to temper after quench on forged in fire? Drives me crazy.

"That is why their knives were breaking because they didn't know what they were doing."... OOOOhhh Snaaaap! Really dig Jasons explanations and him sharing his knowledge in the first place.

Jason Knight is a real nice and stand up guy, his wife is nicer. Met them at a camping trip last October. Also his knives are freaking amazing
